In an unprecedented policy push to reverse years of industrial stagnation and compete with leading industrial states, the West Bengal Government has finalized its comprehensive New Industrial Policy, set for official unveiling on November 5, 2026. Here's some insights from the much awaited Industrial Policy which is benchmarked directly against Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu targeting aggressive capital inflow and local job creation.:
🏭 𝐀𝐠𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬:
🪷 Electricity Tariff Waiver: Complete 100% waiver of industrial power tariffs for the first 5 years of operations.
🪷 Bank Loan Interest Subsidy: State government to bear 50% of bank loan interest on industrial borrowings for 10 years, significantly slashing capital overheads.
🪷 100% State GST Reimbursement: Full refund of the state’s share of SGST for 10 full years back to investing units.
🪷 EPF Contribution Re-investment: State to deposit/reimburse the employer’s share of Provident Fund (PF) contributions for 10 years.
🪷Single Window Clearence System: If the investment is more than 100 CR then a special single window clearence system will be there to get all the necessary permission & clearence directly from the CMO overcoming local hurdles.
💼 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡:
🪷 Benefits extend across both MSMEs and Large Enterprises, with special incentive slabs for projects exceeding ₹100 Crore.
🪷 Large industrial investments will have a mandatory policy condition to employ local youth from Bengal.

🪷 Mega Projects (₹100+ Cr): Fast-track clearance windows and higher-tier incentive slabs.

#WestBengal: Two Hindu Sisters Allegedly Raped by Muslim Youth in Cooch Behar; Accused Abul Kalam Azad on the Run

A shocking incident has come to light in Cooch Behar district, where a Muslim youth has been accused of sexually assaulting two Hindu sisters, one of whom is a minor. The accused has been identified as Abul Kalam Azad, against whom complaints have been lodged. He is reportedly absconding.
According to reports, the elder sister, a resident of Cooch Behar town, was staying in Mathabhanga for work-related reasons. It was there that she became acquainted with Abul Kalam Azad. Subsequently, the two reportedly became involved in a physical relationship. The young woman has alleged that Azad sexually assaulted her on the promise of marriage. Her family has also levelled similar allegations against him.
The family further alleged that a few days ago, the younger sister, who is a minor, had visited her elder sister. While returning home on foot from the local market, she was approached by Abul Kalam Azad, who offered to drop her home on his motorcycle. Since he was already acquainted with her elder sister, the minor girl trusted him and accepted his offer.
However, instead of taking her home, Azad allegedly took the minor girl to an isolated location and raped her. He subsequently dropped her at another place on his motorcycle and fled. Local residents later rescued the girl and informed her family.
Following the incident, the minor's family lodged a written complaint at the Cooch Behar Kotwali Women's Police Station.
According to the latest available information, police have launched a search operation to trace the accused. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

In #Jibantala, locals found the dead body of a Hindu youth named Shankar Sarder from a paddy field.
A few days ago, a brawl broke out between Shankar Sarder and some Muslim youths regarding the parking of a motorcycle in front of a shop.
After that, some Muslim youths came and abducted him three days ago.
Shankar's family went to the Jibantala Police Station.
Shankar's family alleged that the Police didn't receive their complaint and the Police didn't take any steps to recover Shankar Sarder.
This morning, Shankar Sarder's body is found in a paddy field.

After a glacial lake burst in Lemthang, Bhutan, sending waters down the Sankosh River, alerts are active for Darjeeling, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri. NDRF & SDRF teams are already deployed in Tufanganj & Boxirhat, and residents are being warned at this hour of night.
