Another chapter in the record books for Sidney Crosby 🐧
Yellow and black text on a white background below the Pittsburgh Penguins logo reads, "Sidney Crosby #87. One Franchise. NHL History. Crosby set the NHL record for the most assists with a single franchise (1,112). Two cutouts of Sidney Crosby in a Pittsburgh Penguins uniform surround the text.

From the #Gr8:
My family and I decided this summer that this will be my final year in the NHL. I love this game so much, but I know in my heart it’s the right decision. It was important for me to make this announcement before our first home game, so I have the chance to thank all the people around the game, everyone who has been so important to me and my family and helped me through good times and tough losses. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve everything I have in my life without them. I am excited about this season with my teammates, and we will do everything we can to make this year special. I am going to enjoy every moment with my family, my boys, our fans and everyone who has been part of my hockey career. See you Wednesday, babes!

Reminder that Tarik El-Bashir has covered Ovechkin his *entire* NHL career so if you’re not already following him Ovi’s last season is a good time to start

All-time NHL leading goal scorer and #ALLCAPS captain Alex Ovechkin announced after practice today that this, his 22nd season in the NHL, will be his last. The Capitals host Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins in Washington’s home opener on Wednesday. Ovechkin, 41, has 929 career goals—35 more than second place Wayne Gretzky and 275 more than Crosby, who is next on the list among active players.

and when you add the fact that she is pursuing medicine specifically to further research into female sports medicine and female athlete injuries and recovery, so she is only retiring to make a much bigger contribution to womens hockey in the long run how can you not say GOAT 🐐

German has been surprisingly useful in my life. I once negotiated a time for my downstairs neighbor in Syria to come to the roof -only accessible through my apartment - to install a satellite dish. It was my first week in Damascus & my Arabic was terrible but we both knew German
