Alaskans truly can't afford groceries or gas (like genuinely can't afford them), but sure-a complicated story in an East Coast paper that implicates a now fired staffer in a scheme Republicans have also pulled (and most voters haven't heard) is going to take it off the table.
If you take Alaska off the map for Dems, which you prob should, their path to a Senate majority gets a lot harder. Even if they win Michigan, Ohio, NC, NH, and Georgia, which I think they will, they then need 2 of Iowa, Kansas, Texas, or Maine for 51 seats.

If we're actually in a situation where Dems are losing Louisiana by single digits (for the record, I do not think we are...this feels like R's pushing Trump on a safe race to keep him away from real ones) Tuesday will get weird. People will win no one will have heard of.
President Trump says he and Speaker Mike Johnson will do an election eve telerally for Rep. Julia Letlow, who is running for Senate in deep red LOUISIANA Johnson is close with Letlow. Senior Rs think Letlow will win, but likely with single digits. They’ve been racing to shore up a string of deep-red Senate seats.

Headed into Tuesday, there appears to be four big races where Dems are underdogs (TX-Gov, KS-Gov, SC-Sen, & IA-Sen specifically) but not by a big enough margin that a polling error underestimating Dems wouldn't make up for it.

We are officially kicking off my 2026 election night guide, with predictions in all Senate/Gov/House seats. We start with the "A" states, including the critical AK Gov/Sen elections, as well as 2 flip opps in AZ & an endangered Dem incumbent in Alabama: theworldofjot29.blogspot.com…

Today we're looking at Idaho to Louisiana, including the key Gov/Senate races in Iowa & Kansas, the trio of flippable Iowa House races, the strangely competitive KY-6 & Indiana SoS races: theworldofjot29.blogspot.com…

Between the NYT polls showing MN a blowout and SC a nailbiter, and these four polls that (if right) would collectively give the Dems the Senate with likely change to spare...the few major polls coming at the last minute are pushing that wave toward a tsunami.

One of two things is happening: 1) Either Trump is so toxic but unwilling to stop rallying and this was the only safe place to put him 2) Louisiana, with virtually no pundit considering the race competitive, is somehow vulnerable (in which case watch SC/MS)

imagine explaining this tweet to someone in 2011, the year Hochul was first elected to Congress and Minaj was a superstar on the ride following the release of “Pink Friday” (2010)
Kathy Hochul is an evil woman. The Democratic Party should forfeit her seat because even if she wins, she will be of great consequence to them. Downward spiral for her. She will not escape God’s wrath. She did not denounce evil when she had the chance.

Best case scenario is that Bankhead's support collapses with little fanfare, while R's continue to support Bodnar in decent numbers (and no one notices). Essentially the only way Bodnar wins here is if no one thinks he can actually win...sort of the Jesse Ventura in 1998 path.
Montana Senate: ⚪️ Bodnar 39% (+1) 🔴 Alme 38% 🔵 Bankhead 10% 🟡 Austin 2% Undecided 11% Concord Public Opinion Partners/@DFER_News 🔵 400 LV, 10/22-23

Nah...Meryl winning for Sophie's Choice is one of those wins that no amount of precursors or previous Oscars is going to stop. It's like Day-Lewis in Lincoln...all who came to beat it shall be vanquished.
If Meryl had one Best Actress for The French Lieutenant's Woman, for which she was bizarrely the frontrunner that year, Jessica Lange would have won for Frances and Glenn would have won for Garp. I genuinely believe this.

Saying "I haven't heard of someone, so they must not be famous" is one of those traps that 99% of the time you're telling on yourself more than the culture. Cassavetes is incredibly famous & influential. Not having heard of him means you're not a big cinephile. Period.
OK, I'll bite. If John Cassavetes is so insanely influential and brilliant, why have I not heard about him until recently? I've been on a side-quest with classic and esoteric movies, mostly through the Criterion collection. I've watched dozens of Criterion closet picks from filmmakers and actors I admire. They pick Cassavetes films ALL THE TIME. Probably more than any other director except Scorsese. I haven't seen a single Cassavetes film. I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about a Cassavetes film outside of those videos. I'm not a slouch on film, I've got a pretty wide spread on what I've seen & what I appreciate. How has Cassavetes slipped through that net so completely for so long?

It'd probably be a House candidate who had to run right for years to avoid a primary in a gerrymandered seat...making it harder for him to win statewide.
Yeah, this is a blue sky poll for Dems that would refresh their Georgia bench overnight and wipe out Republicans. (Who's the 2030 gov frontrunner if Rs lose LG and AG?)

If she loses this is 100% on Trump in a way no Senate loss would be. He begged for Graham to be the nominee. It's also genuinely been a while since we had a six-year term fluke Senator who starts as a one-term wonder. Doug Jones was there for just three years...likely Mark Kirk?
Treating the U.S. Senate seat in South Carolina like a family heirloom months before a general election was a historic act of hubris. Even in a red state, it’s just crazy to put yourself in this position with a candidate who has no experience or skill with political campaigns!

I'm going on record as saying SC will be closer than NH and MN.
NEW: Here are @njhotline’s FINAL 2026 Senate Power Rankings 1. NC 2. AK ⬆️ 3. OH 4. ME ⬆️ 5. TX ⬆️ 6. IA ⬆️ 7. MI ⬇️ 8. KS ⬆️ 9. MN ⬆️ 10. NH ⬇️ Learn why from @kirk_bado and I here: nationaljournal.com/s/733256…

She won't run again. This was a one-time only situation.
Replying to @roon0292
My guess is Graham ultimately wins by around 4% And probably gets primaried regardless in 6 years

Whether you voted for Donald Trump, Lindsey Graham, or someone else, you deserve leaders who care more about lowering your bills than playing politics in Washington. That’s what this campaign is about.

If you have not bought a People Magazine in the last year, you should not care who their Sexiest Man Alive is.
every year this website goes up in arms when the magazine for middle aged women gives the sexiest man award to a middle aged man

Dems won the US Senate that year. Just looking at that graph isn't good enough to see what was going on under the hood.
How did I ever believe we had a real shot in 24
