A police constable was killed in an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Manga area of Chakesar Tehsil, Shangla district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The President of the Bara Traders Association, Syed Ayaz Wazir, has urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and relevant authorities not to exclude approved development projects in Khyber district, particularly Bara tehsil, from the Annual Development Programme (ADP). He said Khyber district has suffered from unrest and conflict for the past two decades, while development activities in the area have remained minimal. Following the merger of the former FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, only a few development projects were approved after considerable difficulty. Cancelling them would be an injustice to the tribal people, he added. Syed Ayaz Wazir said that if there were any technical errors in the tendering process or other related matters, they should be investigated and rectified. If necessary, the projects could be put up for fresh tendering, but they should not be scrapped altogether. He pointed out that infrastructure in Bara and Tirah is already severely damaged, and cancelling development projects would further aggravate the region's problems. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed visited Kabal tehsil of Swat district, where he inaugurated a modern Police Facilitation Centre equipped with advanced facilities. During the visit, the IGP inspected different sections of the centre and reviewed the services being provided to citizens. Peshawar: A security briefing was held at Governor House Peshawar, where a new strategy was formulated to eliminate terrorism.
