Simmons, Vea, Taylor. In that order.
You want to get cute? Go after Derwin James or Budda Baker.
Adding Simmons or Vea to this defense? Good night.
I'd send significant capital to make it happen, look at what Dexter Lawrence has done for the Bengals.
Fair grades for the NFC West on the receiving end of these trades. Loading up for the arms race ahead.
Vikings have to be in on Jonathan Taylor. It’s the only position that makes sense at this point to move the needle for the offense.
The 2nd round pick should be in play for him.
Too much or no?
The Colts sold two Pro Bowlers in one afternoon.
They got back a third, a fourth and a fifth.
I used to work at Robinhood. Pricing deals was the job. So until the November 10 deadline, I'm grading every NFL trade like one.
TRADE GRADES #1 AND #2
QUENTON NELSON TO SEATTLE
Six time All Pro. Pro Bowl in all eight of his seasons.
Indy gets: a 2027 third and a 2028 fifth.
DEFOREST BUCKNER TO SAN FRANCISCO
Three time Pro Bowler. The Colts paid the 13th overall pick for him in 2020.
Indy gets: a 2027 fourth.
The fine print: both contracts end after this season. Keep them and they likely walk in March.
Seattle: A. Their run game ranks 23rd. Not anymore.
San Francisco: A minus. A proven pass rusher for a fourth.
Indianapolis: B minus. Selling rentals is smart. Turning a 13th pick into a fourth still stings.
The Colts are 2 and 5, fired their GM and have no 2027 first. This isn't a reset. It's a teardown.
Is Jonathan Taylor next?
Every deadline trade gets graded here. Follow for #3.
There goes another one
Reunion! The Colts are trading three-time Pro Bowl DL DeForest Buckner to the 49ers for a 2027 fourth-round pick, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports.
Buckner came to San Francisco as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2016. A decade later, he’s back.
"My understanding is, that the owner doesn't want to trade Jonathan Taylor...if I had to guess today, I don't think they trade Jonathan Taylor."
@AdamSchefter
Meaning.. UP YOUR PRICES
Looks like Nolan was a part of the deal after all.
The #Seahawks are set to receive a 3rd-round pick for losing Nolan Teasley, who became the #Vikings’ GM.
That gives Seattle an extra 3rd-rounder, so giving up a 3rd for Quenton Nelson is a bit easier.
They’re also expected to receive four compensatory picks in the 2027 draft for losing Kenneth Walker, Tariq Woolen, Kobe Bryant, and Boye Mafe in free agency.
Seattle might not be done. They are loaded with picks.
Who says no?
Colts receive: 2027 1st + 3rd
Vikings receive: RB Jonathan Taylor + G Quenton Nelson*
* Receives extension upon trade

And the #Colts are open for business. And likely not done.
Trade: The #Colts are sending eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the #Seahawks, per @AdamSchefter and me.
Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency. A Colts legend goes to the champs.
Man... the Vikings have this type of compensation too.
Sources: The #Colts will receive a 2027 3rd rounder and a 2028 5th rounder for Quenton Nelson.
Oh wow, the fire sale is happening
Trade: Colts have agreed to send eight-time Pro-Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, per me and @rapsheet. Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts are opting to get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency.
But an all-time Colt now moves on to the Seahawks.
