The French government has effectively torn up the social contract with the people of Paris and France.
The British government has done much the same. We pay ever-increasing taxes and, in return, face violent crime, sexual violence, declining public services and the perception of two-tier policing.
Should mass unrest erupt, the public increasingly believe they will be left to fend for themselves. No protection, no justice, and an ever-growing tax burden.
This parasitic relationship between the state and its citizens cannot continue indefinitely.

The problem is that Parliament is now populated by radicals like Ed Davey.
Twenty-five years ago, his rhetoric and political positions would have been considered extreme and deeply offensive in a political culture that still valued restraint, decency and measured debate.
The long march through the institutions has normalised this ideological extremism, giving its proponents a platform from which to poison public discourse.
Davey is not a moderate. His politics deserve the most forensic scrutiny, and those responsible for serious abuses of public trust.
The message from number 10, is that the risk of rape and violence, by illegal migrants, must be shared uniformly across the land.
