And so here we are. This statement from Trump blows my mind. That a sitting president would not let any renovations to a public building go on unless he gets to first put his name in the said building… What a sad state of affairs. What a tragedy. Actually, how small minded, how narcissistic. Actually
great men, devoted to public service and the public good do not act like this.
It seems that this man will not rest until his name is permanently connected to the name of a great president, whose memory this building was dedicated to. Imagine spending your time and your days focused on this, as everyday Americans struggle with healthcare, gas prices, rent, and food. Imagine spending your days focused on this, while a war rages under your leadership.
Enough said. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

🚨 JUST IN: In a jaw-dropping declaration, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi announced his long-prepared "Transition System" is now fully staffed with qualified Iranians inside and outside the country and ready to take control the moment the Islamic Republic collapses.

🚨 BREAKING: MAJOR SIGNAL FROM INSIDE IRAN
A political declaration has just emerged from Arab tribes in Iran’s Khuzestan province — the country’s most important oil-producing region.
In the statement they make several striking points:
• They reject the Islamic Republic and call for the complete removal of the regime
• They demand a secular democratic government based on human rights
• They stress that Khuzestan is an inseparable part of Iran
• They call for unity among all Iranian ethnic groups including Kurds, Azeris and Baluch
• They express support for Reza Pahlavi as a unifying national figure for a future transition
Khuzestan is not just another province.
It is the heart of Iran’s oil industry and one of the most strategically important regions in the country.
When voices from inside that region begin calling openly for a democratic future beyond the Islamic Republic, it signals something much bigger:
The cracks inside the regime’s foundations may be widening.

I just exercised my right as a Member of Congress to conduct an unannounced oversight visit of the ICE field facility in Baltimore. The staff I met with respected my right to visit, but what I saw was disgraceful. Kristi Noem has a budget of $75 billion she could use to ensure humane conditions, but we saw 60 men packed into a room shoulder-to-shoulder, 24-hours-a-day, with a single toilet in the room and no shower facilities. They sleep like sardines with aluminum foil blankets. Whether it’s for three days or seven days, nobody would want a member of their family warehoused there. The room set aside for dangerous criminals and violent offenders was empty. We’re demanding immediate answers and action.

Stopping harassment, checking a coworker, or backing someone up takes real backbone.

Spending summer in Canada 🇨🇦 has been a real treat. Traveling across the country & a lot of time in the Quebec countryside. We have never been treated better (in spite of the issues we are all familiar with). If you take a vacation , I strongly recommend Canada 🇨🇦.

The Colbert Report ended with a promise: Stephen Colbert was retiring his "Stephen Colbert" character so he could go host The Late Show — but we'll meet again, "Stephen" sang. Seems like now might be a good time to meet "Stephen" again.

Attacks on journalists are attacks on freedom of expression.
More than ever, we need reliable sources of information & press freedom.
On Saturday's #WorldPressFreedomDay & every day, join @UNESCO in defending journalism & standing up for democracy. unesco.org/en/days/press-fre…
On #WorldPressFreedomDay, JHR President Rachel Pulfer calls on Canada to step up and protect journalists around the world 👉 thestar.com/opinion/contribu…
In the Toronto Star, she lays it out: “Without journalists reporting [...] facts, people lack access to critical information about what’s happening in their communities and the wider world. Corrupt leaders in turn dodge scrutiny and accountability. If Canada wants to lead the fight for global peace and stability, our job starts with shoring up the integrity of the information ecosystem, both at home and abroad.”
