June was a busy month for the Texas Kidney Foundation, and we’re grateful for every moment.
From outreach and kidney health education to connecting with neighbors, partners, and families,
TKF continues helping people understand their kidney health and take action earlier.
Thank you to our team, volunteers, partners, and community members for making this work possible.
Together, we’re building a healthier future—one neighbor at a time.
Proud moment for the Texas Kidney Foundation!
On June 9, 2026, TKF was honored by the Bexar County Commissioners Court in recognition of FSGS Day in Texas.
Bexar County-rooted. Statewide impact. National relevance.
15 years of service in Texas.
It’s been a busy month for TKF — and we’re grateful.
From community outreach to kidney health education, screenings, partnerships, and meaningful conversations, we continue showing up to help neighbors take action earlier.
Every connection matters.

We are proud to celebrate Tiffany Jones-Smith, BA ’95, President & CEO of the Texas Kidney Foundation, who was featured in Baylor Magazine for her leadership in medical advocacy and kidney health prevention.
The feature shares Tiffany’s powerful journey — from losing 15 family members to kidney disease and learning she carries a high-risk genetic variant herself, to leading statewide efforts that expand education, screening and early detection for Texans.
Under her leadership, TKF has screened more than 16,000 people, reached more than 1 million Texas households with kidney health education, and helped build the state’s largest community-based dataset on chronic kidney disease.
This recognition shines a light on the mission we carry every day: helping Texans understand, prevent and respond to kidney disease earlier.
Thank you, Baylor Magazine, for highlighting this important work.

In June 2026, TKF is helping move FSGS awareness from words to work.
Recognition matters. But families also need education, screening, navigation, trusted community partners, and follow-through.
That is how awareness becomes action across Texas.
The communities most impacted by kidney disease must be part of shaping the solutions.
From a community perspective, prevention starts with listening, local trust, plain-language education, screening access, and follow-through that meets people where they are.
The Texas Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force is where awareness, data, policy, and community action can come together.
TKF is proud to support statewide conversations that move kidney health from recognition to implementation — with screening, education, navigation, and follow-through.
Awareness is only the beginning.
This June, TKF is helping turn FSGS recognition into community action through screenings, education, stakeholder engagement, Task Force leadership, and resource navigation across Texas.
Early knowledge. Timely action. Better health.
FSGS awareness must lead to action.
In June 2026, Texas Kidney Foundation is bringing education, screening, navigation, referral support, and community follow-through to local Texas communities.
This is how recognition becomes real support for families across Texas.
In Loving Memory of Barbara Gibbs
December 14, 1947 – May 22, 2026
Barbara Gibbs was deeply loved and will be remembered for her faith, creativity, style, laughter, and the joy she brought to her family and everyone around her.
Barbara had a gift for making beautiful things, from wreaths and flower arrangements to the special dishes her family will always cherish. She loved her church, her family, a good laugh, a sweet treat, and bringing her own sparkle into every room she entered.
In place of flowers, Barbara’s family invites friends and loved ones to honor her memory with a memorial gift to the Texas Kidney Foundation.
Your gift in Barbara’s honor will help support kidney health education, community screening, resource navigation, referral support, and follow-through for individuals and families across Texas.

The CKD crisis is not only a testing problem.
It is also a communication problem.
Testing matters.
But testing must be paired with education, interpretation, navigation, and follow-through.

“Nothing to worry about” can become dangerous when it replaces understanding.
Patients need reassurance, but they also need clarity:
What changed?
What does it mean?
What should I do next?
@goKDIGO @NIDDKgov @ASNKidney @NIH @NIH_Innovates @TravereRare @NateraGenetics @spursnation @ForganySarah @tommuellerX
A patient should not have to decode their own medical record to understand their kidney health.
If kidney risk is documented, it should be explained.
Prevention begins when information becomes usable.
@goKDIGO @NIDDKgov @ASNKidney @NIH @NIH_Innovates @TravereRare @NateraGenetics @spursnation @ForganySarah @tommuellerX
“No news” is not always good news for kidney health.
Early CKD can be silent.
A person can feel fine while their chart already shows kidney risk signals.
That’s why patients should ask about both:
eGFR = kidney function
uACR = kidney damage
@goKDIGO @NIDDKgov @ASNKidney @NIH @NIH_Innovates @TravereRare @NateraGenetics @spursnation @ForganySarah @tommuellerX
A CKD diagnosis hidden in a medical record does not become prevention until the patient understands it. Documentation is not communication. Patients need to know what their kidney numbers mean, what questions to ask, and what action to take next.
