Cyril Ramaphosa is himself part of what is wrong with the Constitutional accountability framework. He never accounts for his own exercise of public power.

After my car was hijacked at gun point, I told the story the other day, I saw it a few days later, about three days, driving out of the compound that was called 13, there in Soweto opposite Diepkloof hostel, while in a taxi coming from town, going the opposite direction!!! 😭😂 It still had the same registration number. It was a brand new maroon Golf 3. You wouldn't miss it. I knew I wasn't dreaming. I saw it was my car, with the same registration!! I froze. 😭 I'm in a taxi, heading to Senoane, to Lulama, my friend's place. I had slept there the night of the hijacking, and decided to spend sometime being comforted by Lulama and her family. At work they gave me compassionate leave. So that day I had gone to town to sort out a few things. Came back quickly, it must have been midday. There was my car, turning to the direction of town, on-ramping to the freeway. I couldn't say anything to the driver or to anyone. I just felt weak, helpless and paralyzed. I mean it would have seemed like I'm crazy if I said "driver, there's my stolen car". 🤭😂 I just had a lump in my throat and cried when I got to Lulama's place. Telling them "haibo Lulama, I just my car iphuma e13!!" The cellphones were still arriving during that time, and mine went with the car anyway. I called the police station in Jabulani where I opened the case using Lulama's home landline. I told them "I just saw my car leaving 13 just now, 30 minutes ago!!" All the Officer could say was "Where sisi, are you sure it was the one?" 🤦🏽‍♀️😅 It was obviously a futile exercise. These buggers didn't even bother to change or remove the number plates. 😒 I suspect the police were already involved during those years in car hijackings. So ja, crime and stealing of cars has been with us for many years. Those of us who survived such ordeals are just grateful to God that we lived to tell the tales. Many were not so lucky. 😢🙏🏽❤️

There's a rather eerie honesty about Eugene de Kock. I followed his trial religiously and remember what he said then: 'Everyone wants to eat the chops, but none want blood and guts in their hands.' Everything he said does not only expose the cruelty of apartheid, but it also demonstrates the complicity and deceitfulness of ANC leaders as well as the treachery and callousness of Inkatha. The phrase I referenced highlights a central theme often raised by critics and historians: that while state agents like de Kock carried out the direct violence, entire political systems, military structures, and opposing factions operated within an environment of strategic compromises, covert agreements, and shifting alliances.
He was known as “Prime Evil.” Now he says he knows who gave the orders. Eugene de Kock, former commander of apartheid South Africa’s notorious Vlakplaas death squad, testified today before the Khampepe Commission. He claims prosecutors never approached him for evidence that could expose senior officials behind apartheid-era killings. Before becoming commander of Vlakplaas, De Kock served in Rhodesia with South Africa's security forces. De Kock was sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years in 1996 but was released on parole in 2015.

Serving as an MKP official must be feeling like playing Russian Roulette everyday you wake up. The gun is always by your bed with an instruction to pull the trigger. Black parties are institutional calamities. All of them.

Retire Bafanas. You are not forced to be in office.
Dr Dube understood a simple but powerful truth: when you educate a young person, you do not only change their future. But you also strengthen families, uplift communities, and help build a stronger nation. Standing at his gravesite brought to mind one of the most powerful moments in our democracy. It was here at Ohlange High School that President Nelson Mandela cast his first vote in South Africa's first democratic election in 1994. #OhlangeInstitute #OhlangeHighSchool #DrJohnLangalibaleleDube #PaulMashatile
