Lyle Miller-Green, the Chicago White Sox 17th round pick, was born in Siberia, Russia 🇷🇺
His name at birth: Oleg Sergevich Kornev.
At the age of 1, he was adopted and moved to Burke, Virginia with his adopted mother, Stephanie Miller. 🇺🇸
He was adopted 1 week before 9/11.
The U.S. suspended all flights immediately following the attack, which likely would have affected Miller’s plans to fly internationally for adoption had she waited another week.
LMG on his adoption:
“Being adopted has never had a negative impact on me. I’ve lived a great and lucky life. I’ve had great family support. My parents put food on our table, clothes on my back and a roof over my head. I will be forever grateful to them.”
LMG has had a prolific career with Austin Peay. This season, he slashed .393/.533/.900 with 30 home runs. He also pitched 50.1 innings.
He is Austin Peay’s first First Team All-American in program history.
And now, he has been drafted by a Major League Baseball organization.
What a journey. What a story.
