The outrage cooled all at once into something far more patient and far crueler, the corner of her mouth hooking upward as the idea landed, and her lips peeled back into a grin that showed every single fang in her head ｡
( . . . )
claws biting in a fraction deeper every time she tried to shift, and still Jeanne only stared — letting her think the worst of it was over ｡ Then something moved behind those eyes ｡
𝕿he peculiar spectator eventually caught Jeanne’s attention ｡ She turned her head, regarding Dubs with an increasingly irritated stare ｡ Those ridiculous blinks weren’t helping matters ｡
❛ And what are you looking at? ❜

𝕵eanne faced the doctor fully, her voice dropping into a venomous murmur ｡
❛ You made something magnificent, Fran … but don’t mistake my admiration for trust ｡ Tell me exactly what you kept of mine ｡ Now ｡ ❜

𝕾he drew her arm back, preparing to send the device sailing through the air ｡ Her patience for talking trinkets had run dry ｡
❛ I found you lying around, you little shit ｡ Want to see how far you can fly? ❜

𝕾he turned fully toward Fran, an inquisitive glint in her gaze ｡
❛ Tell me something, Doctor ｡ How did you teach him to recognize me when I wasn’t even here? We never so much as met before today ｡ ❜
𝕿he notion of an ally drew a doubtful look from Jeanne ｡ She had spent far too long fighting alone to welcome a priestess at her side ｡ Yet the prospect of someone shielding her while she reduced enemies to ash was … amusing ｡
“I never heard about anything like that from my old world. Perhaps it just works differently where you come from.”
Violet held her hands up and shrugged, giving up on the idea of a contract for now. Avenger seemed to be rather paranoid about the idea, what use was there in pushing it further?
“Since that idea is out for the time being, the only other suggestion I have is that we simply team up for a while. Even if a connection is impossible, there’s no reason we can’t fight together. I can provide defense, healing, and buffs, you can handle combat.”
It was a tried and true small party formation. A Support class joining up with a Tank or a DPS, covering the basics of offense and defense with only two classes available.
