And the thing is, you can kill yourself later. You have the rest of your life to kill yourself.
So, like, why not wait and do it tomorrow?
Bcz maybe tomorrow you'll feel different, and anyway there's still tomorrow after that.
Don't do it today, just survive until tomorrow. And if you keep that up, one day you might feel better.
Notable exception: @mulnhwm shldn't wait until tomorrow, he shld do us all and everyone he knows a favor and kill himself today.
So last week's discourse was Brits discovering that cultures other than theirs exist and we taught them what a burger is, now it's Brits discovering that other people exist - is there anyone more ignorant and arrogant than the Brits?
Brits: Stupid YANKS why don't you use the metric system, the way we superior Brits do?!?!?!?!?!
Also Brits: Stupid YANKS why do you assume I understand the metric system - we superior Brits use the infinitely more civilized unit of measure, a stone, which WE invented!!!!!
I hate when ppl tell a suicidal prsn "there's so much to live for" or "it gets better!"
If you're depressed, no there isn't and no it won't.
But, it's a binary choice: live or don't. That's it.
Also Chamorro women on Guam. Even worse, the US blocked Guamanians from seeking war reparations from JP as part of the overall peace treaty, so the US actually paid reparations FOR them, but took decades to get to it.
Comfort girls weren't just East Asians. They were also South East Asians, a large number of Fillipinos, Vietnamese, Thais. And also White Caucasian girls like Australians, Dutch and French. When you spread comfort stations this globally, it's undeniable.

And so can you - nobody's FORCING you to be like an American. If you don't like our movies, don't fucking watch them. If you don't like our craft, watch something else. Fuck off and jerk off to your indie flicks, no one cares.
Because he understood why people watch movies - they're FUN.
My favorite review of his was of the LotR movies - he basically said they're pandering slop for teenage boys, which I agreed with - that's what they are. I fucking HATE those movies.
But he understood that they were FUN for teenage boys. They pandered just the right way for a teenage boy to enjoy it, and that's what really mattered to him.
And you'll notice very few people get that. They insist on seeing THEIR slop as "art," and YOUR slop as "slop."
Something that really helped me understand this was Roger Ebert's reviews - he always reviewed a movie for WHAT IT WAS, not what he wanted it to be. He was notorious for giving arthaus flicks bad reviews while giving action-comedy slop two thumbs up. Why?
"Oh, no, American movies are too formulaic" - nah, dude, there is an art and craft to writing a script. Setting up a plot point, revealing it, and showing the conclusion - it's not formulaic, it's craftsmanship.
Those kids in India don't give a shit about film theory, they want to see Shiva blast some dudes in the Ramayana miniseries every Saturday night with their bros.
Part of my college education was studying modern globalization - a big part of that was studying how TV and entertainment spread around the world.
I've read actual anthropological studies about how villages in India, someone would buy a TV, and everyone would crowd around
