I looked at him. "Patrick, what is this?
"I'm asking you to marry me again," he replied.
I thought he was joking until I saw how serious he was.
"Three years ago, I thought winning our arguments was more important than understanding you. I kept expecting you to change while refusing to acknowledge my own mistakes. Losing you forced me to confront the kind of husband I had become. I've worked on myself, and I'm not asking you to forget our past. I'm asking for another chance to build something better with you."
I didn't give him an answer that day.
Over the next two months, we had honest conversations about everything that had gone wrong in our marriage. We took things slowly, and I began to see genuine changes in him.
Eventually, I agreed to give our relationship another chance.
Last week, he proposed to me again, and this time, I said yes.
We're getting married for the second time, and our son is already planning what he'll wear to the wedding.
