Energy is setting up to massively outperform tech.
The more they doubt it, the more bullish the setup becomes.
Don't shoot the messenger!
One of Europes biggest energy suppliers. Equinor: +13.99% in one month +90% in one year. Great for investors. Not for consumers.
Higher oil and energy prices mean rising pressure on transport, production costs and inflation.
Energy is becoming a macro story you can't ignore.

Global food inflation is rapidly rising.
The Bloomberg Agriculture Spot Index, which tracks 10 key agricultural commodities, soared over +13.0% in August, its largest monthly gain since July 2012.
Meanwhile, the World Food Price Index rose +1.9% in August, to its highest since December 2022.
This index tracks internationally traded staples including grains, sugar, dairy, meat, and vegetable oils.
Food prices have risen +7.4% since January.
Every component tracked in the index rose last month, led by a +11.9% increase in sugar prices and a +2.6% gain in wheat prices.
Wheat prices have now increased +15.0% over the last 12 months.
Global food inflation is heating up.
Elections have always been corrupt. Trump just plays it out loud. What surprises me is that everyone seems shocked, as if elections were ever truly fair in the past 🙈

The age of mining is about to begin.
The global economy is shifting away from a just-in-time model toward a bifurcated system.
- Nations are prioritizing supply security over efficiency
- Strategic stockpiles are expanding
- Export controls are rising
The long-running era of globalization, excess capacity, and falling prices is coming to an end.
Under globalization, asset-light business models thrived. Companies offshored production, minimized inventories, and optimized relentlessly for margins.
That model only works when materials and energy are always available.
They are not anymore.
This is why Big Tech is already acting:
- Locking in copper supply directly at the mine level
- Building and controlling power generation
- Securing end-to-end supply chains
- Participating in critical mineral stockpiles
Governments and tech giants hoarding metals and locking in long-term offtake deals will force everyone else to do the same just to avoid being left short.
That turns supply security into a self-reinforcing bidding war over the same finite metals and energy.
In this new world, mining transforms from an old, dirty business everyone avoided into a matter of national security, where access trumps price.
Meanwhile, mining as a share of global equities is at ~1%, a historic low.
Life-changing money will be made in the mining sector

The average portfolio of the 5 largest pension funds in the world looks roughly like this:
~60% Equities
~30% Long-term debt
~5% Short-term debt/cash
~5% Alternatives
~0% explicitly allocated to Gold
~0% explicitly allocated to Silver
Think about that.
These institutions are responsible for protecting retirement savings across generations.
Yet a huge part of their portfolio is still built around the assumption that stocks and long-duration bonds will continue to protect each other.
But long-duration debt has already been crushed by inflation and rising yields.
And if the real tail risk is not another normal recession, but a loss of confidence in sovereign debt itself, what is the hedge?
More sovereign debt?
The top pension funds have essentially zero disclosed strategic allocation to Gold — the asset that historically exists outside the liability structure of the financial system.
That is the danger of trusting the system so completely that your entire portfolio is constructed from claims on the same system.
If bonds fail as the safe asset, the traditional portfolio has a serious problem.
Even a modest decision years ago to diversify part of the long-duration bond allocation into Gold would have produced dramatically better results.
You don't need to abandon the financial system.
But if 100% of your wealth depends on it continuing to function exactly as expected, you are not diversified.
You are concentrated in the system itself.
When the hedge against the system is 0%, you sink with the system.

Who the fuck is selling gold?
We have Bessent intervening in the yen and calling up Warsh so he can print dollars to buy yen...
All of this hassle is about keeping US rates from rising.
And now people really believe Warsh is going to hike rates? Ridiculous.
Powell was perceived as a hawk. He wanted to cut the Fed's balance sheet in half...
He ended up doubling it.
Warsh can talk tough all he wants. At the end of the day, he will sacrifice the dollar to save the bond market.
We all don't own enough gold for what's coming.

Chile’s copper production is plunging.
- Chile accounts for 24% of global copper production
- Chile’s copper production is expected to peak in 2027
This is one of the key reasons copper deficits are piling up.
The world’s largest copper producer is nearing its peak, just as AI-driven demand for copper remains strong and US plans to reshore it's manufactoring base.

BREAKING: JPMorgan warns a large-scale global food supply crisis could hit within the next year, forecasting global food inflation to nearly double from 2.8% now to 5% by early 2027, per JPMorgan Global Research.
The direct driver is fertilizer, 1/3 of the world's nitrogen fertilizer moves through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has kept shut since February. Unlike oil, there’s no strategic reserve for fertilizer and nothing to release.
Nitrogen fertilizer goes into about half of all crops grown globally.
