If it’s so cheap and easy just do it yourself or get multiple quotes.
Just got quoted $2,400 to paint a 23 by 13 foot living room. The 4 gallons of paint it takes to do the job costs about $110 at Home Depot, or around $160 if you want Sherwin Williams. This is not a particularly skilled job. You went to trade school, not medical school. You own a brush and a roller. Stop ripping people off, contractors.

I’m realizing I have four bachelors next year and I’ll be golfing on all of them. What advice would you give to a man who doesn’t really golf / hasn’t golfed in years?

Update on the blue home. What do you think of his choice?

Never go on threads
I made the mistake of posting something on Threads. Lesson learned.

565k and can see the ocean?? Tell me what’s wrong with it. House needs to be renovated obviously but for 565k and views like that, that’s hard to beat.

It took me so long to learn this.
My mom wanted to add a shower to her bathroom so she got a contractor out for a quote. I told her beforehand its gonna be like 20-30k Guy spends 2 hours at the house, probably another few hours at home doing the quote. Comes back at 30k and she's like nope way out of my budget I'm like mom you wasted that guys whole day lol. She says it was a free quote, he offered to come out, she didn't make him do anything Which is kinda fair tbh. He could've just asked on the phone "these usually run 25-30k is that in your budget" and saved himself 5 hours Contractors need to stop giving away free time like this

Had some 7 foot spots in the corners. Mostly 3-5 feet around entire footing. I’m just glad we at least finally hit solid ground. These are the risks when you build a spec home.

How far away will you guys go for a job? Specifically a side project not a custom home.

Exterior painted. I love it. Our custom green color we created and urbane bronze. A timeless combo. Matches the brown metal roof and gutters perfectly.

Most people commenting negative stuff on this build probably have this fridge
Sometimes you see a build and just think wow. I’m a builder myself, but these guys are on another level. Hope to be building homes like this one day. Absolutely gorgeous home.

Been having trouble with an audio file and been trying to fix it manually with ChatGPT. Been working on it for over an hour with no progress. Muse fixed it in one minute. Wow.

Just a simple paint color in our new office. The lighting in here feels perfect now. Painting the trim and exterior today.

We can build it right, build it fast, or build it cheap. Pick two.

Never break down the quote
I hate contractors who don't break down the pricing on their estimate when requested. What are you hiding?
