For @BoardRuleChi, I wrote about Tameka Walton, the nonprofit executive and write-in candidate for the Chicago School Board's 10A district. I spoke with her about her campaign against the incumbent, Grammy award-winning artist @RhymefestforCPS. board-rule.ghost.io/the-unde…

Everything been great about the new gig except the increased racism on here lol I open my phone and it’s a guaranteed N word in my mentions. Elon really empowered the biggest losers on the planet.

My parents bought a 3br house in South Brooklyn for $170k in 1996. Same house is estimated at $850k today. It's not even near the train.
Why don't they just leave NYC? I'm not trying to be callous, but there's a whole wonderful world out there that's more affordable.

And if you've gotta come to the Internet to debate hanging out with me, you got it. Stay home ✌🏽Very weird behavior.

I have a new piece on the Ohio Senate race that was just published by @NewYorker. Deepest thanks to the magazine's stellar editorial staff for all their help and to the great people of the Mahoning Valley who shared their time and insights with me.

Also not to be that person, but another factor I think about here is the lack of financial reciprocity. All these events you’ve listed require gifting and quite alot of money spent which adds up over the years, now how is that in any way reciprocated for single women esp?😕

I want kids but I so dislike women who judge their childfree friends for celebrating birthdays & not centering their entire lives around being a ”mom who makes big sacrifices and never has anything for herself”. Like grow up! Youre not getting an award for being miserable!

Wonder how the people mad at my tweet feel about this Bob Woodward quote
With no disrespect to my many many friends who continue to do excellent journalism at The Washington Post, Jeff Bezos has made abundantly clear that he cannot be trusted to own the flagship paper of the nation’s capital. Follow @washingtonsun
It's important to support your unmarried & childless friends as much as they supported you, even if it's inconvenient. This is how you build community.
My friend wants to plan a couples, no-kids weekend getaway, splitting the cost of a large AirBNB, in January for her 30th birthday. I really do not love this idea (husband is mortified), neither to spend the money nor to get someone to take the toddler for 3 days. It would be a 2.5 hour drive away for us, too, so it’s not like we’re close if something happens. I haven’t been away from him for even 1 night yet and he still just seems so young! It would be very hard to leave him for that long.
Am I just a party pooper who needs to get over it? Genuine question. Like I actually need advice here guys

Remember how Sam Bankman-Fried's friends Caroline Ellison and Nishad Singh had a bunch of Series B Anthropic shares?
Anthropic's S-1 IPO prospectus finally tells us what happened to them.

I'm in my 40s. I'm a lawyer. My wife is a lawyer. We both work full time.
We cannot afford the house my parents purchased on a single electrician's income in their 30s.
We cannot afford the house my immigrant grandparents purchased on a single MTA bus driver's salary in their 30s. They had SIX CHILDREN.
For 30 years, politicians in Washington & their oligarch allies convinced regular people that this was just about avocado toast and fancy coffee.
In reality, this is end-stage capitalism. Everyone is stuck in place. It's impossible to buy a home. It's too costly to move. We work too much to have passion projects. We don't have enough savings to start our own businesses. We can't afford to go without healthcare to do it.
Thanks for writing this article @troy_closson. Would be very happy to discuss further.
