The latest Ofsted data (n = 3,189 schools) reveals a persistent association between deprivation and weaker curriculum and teaching judgements. Among secondary schools, those serving the most disadvantaged communities were nearly 4 times as likely to be graded below expected as those serving the least disadvantaged communities. Does this new framework STILL penalise disadvantaged schools? gov.uk/government/statistica…

Ofsted commissioned independent research into its new inspection framework. 88% of schools reported some negative impact on mental wellbeing. The data isn't wrong, but the way @Ofstednews has presented the data, and reported it, raises serious questions for taxpayers @LucyMPowell ... teachertoolkit.co.uk/2026/10…

HOW Ofsted banners SHOULD be printed. 👏🏼 Take note ALL school leaders, everywhere!

A cleaner worksheet is NOT necessarily a better worksheet. Cognitive load depends on the learner, their prior knowledge and what we’re asking them to process. So, how should teachers audit their resources? 🎥 I explain with a worked example – watch the video youtube.com/watch?v=SeBA-BW7… 📥 Members can then access the full resource: teachertoolkit.co.uk/product… #CognitiveLoad #TheToolkit

When school leaders look through pupils’ books, are they investigating learning — or simply checking teacher compliance? 🤔 I’ve spent almost 20 years refining my thinking on work scrutiny. My latest conclusion? Stop asking: “Has the teacher marked it?” Start asking: “What did the pupil do next?” youtu.be/aVM8SVxUPpg?is=XKPl…
