AFP TRIVIA | MAPPING THE LIBERATION OF MARAWI
In the history of the Battle of Marawi, the Marawi Operations Map offers a glimpse into the complexity of urban warfare and the critical role of operational planning in achieving mission objectives. It reflects how military leaders relied on a clear understanding of the battlefield to make informed decisions, adapt to changing conditions, and direct efforts toward the liberation of the city. Now preserved at the AFP Museum in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, the map serves as a reminder of the strategic coordination, determination, and sacrifices of the troops who carried out the five-month campaign.
The Marawi Operations Map therefore represents not only a significant chapter in the AFPโs history, but also a reminder of the importance of safeguarding the peace that communities have worked hard to regain. Its legacy endures in the continuing pursuit of a safer and more peaceful future for the people of Marawi.
