James, your utter ignorance of the oil and gas industry is well established, and based on cutting and pasting far right myths, but this is particularly spectacular even by your pathetic standards. “Britain has stopped issuing licences.” Over 300 licences were issued by the UK government in recent licensing rounds, and the inconvenient fact is that fewer than 10% have progressed to active production by companies. The problem isn’t a shortage of bits of paper from government; it’s a mature basin and the new identified sites are expensive to drill given their location so companies have chosen not to. “The UK government is paying Norway billions to drill.” No it isn’t. The UK Government doesn’t buy gas from anyone. Energy companies buy gas from producers on the international wholesale market. That is how this sold . “We don’t extract it.” Utter bollocks. Britain is still producing North Sea oil and gas; Ofgem says around 29% of GB gas currently comes from our own North Sea fields. Oil companies produced 401 MILLION barrels of oil from the UK North Sea last year. However, here’s the inconvenient truth you ignore every single time - nearly 90% of the crude oil Britain produces is exported. Oil companies sell it where it suits them commercially, while UK refineries import the grades they need. So you’ve confused licences with production, private companies with the Government, commercial imports with public spending, and where oil is extracted with where it is sold. Quite an achievement in one tweet you pathetic serial liar .

Hi Shaun. I think the problems facing the UK currently are unresolvable in the near future but not just for the reasons many throw out there. If I take just the single story of the Hamas operative given a British passport and anonymity protection for a hundred years plus a new identity, the implications of that are no longer just domestic. It means a known terrorist has been given the means to travel pretty much anywhere in the world and the cover to do whatever he wants. And that’s just one story out of many. But when you overlay that on the flood of unverified immigrants and the many known terrorists that have been given sanctuary in the UK, the double standards of the application of UK laws, the mass government cover up of the rape gangs, and the multitude of other things being forced onto the British public, the situation has reached a point where the government has lost total control and is no longer simply incompetent. It is 100% complicit in all of it because all of it is government policy. Then the implications of that mean that the UK is not a reliable ally in any way. It falls almost under the definition of a state sponsor of terrorism. The best analogy to use which will define it correctly is that the UK is now the equivalent of Qatar. They host terrorists knowingly and protect them. They have a state media similar to Al Jazeera in the BBC, they both want the destruction of Israel, they both prioritize Palestinians over their own domestic affairs, and they act more aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America than a democratic European state. The country is in complete freefall. Their answer to that is to throw even more money at social welfare and wastage that they don’t have, they are absolutely not a serious player when it comes to security, both domestically and globally, and there is nothing in anything the government says or does that even remotely shows they have any idea of how to fix anything. What they have done to the British people, and in fairness it’s not just Labour but the governments before them as well, is just criminal. I’ve made the decision to take my family and leave this country. We’ve pretty much sold our home and my wife being British for dozens of generations is heartbroken but she too has given up hope. It’s that fact that made the decision to leave easy because she would always find reason to never leave. So to answer your specific question, it’s very fucked at the moment. The one and ONLY thing that could fix it is the British people themselves. But they just don’t have the stomach or courage to stand up and fight for it. When I say fight, I don’t mean with violence or a civil war. That may likely happen eventually as it stands. But I mean in any meaningful way. If 5 million British people came to London and brought the capital to a complete standstill for two weeks, just as these stupid leftists do constantly, the sheer numbers would be too much for any police force to stop. I’m not advocating violence. I’m saying the people have the power to use the other side’s tactics and bring change. But they don’t. Because many are too afraid of being labeled right wing. And pretty soon there won’t be much left worth even fighting for.

I spent over two decades in counterterrorism and I’m still involved in many ways, so here are my views on what I see has happened over the past 24-36 hours in the UK: Five British men in their twenties were arrested on Sunday near RAF Fairford on suspicion of explosives offences and the preparation of a terrorist act. On Monday they were released on police bail. That’s not what the terrorism clock looks like when the investigators are still in charge of it. Under ordinary UK criminal law a suspect can be held for 24 hours, stretched to 36 by a superintendent, and to 96 hours by a magistrate. But under section 41 of the Terrorism Act the first hold is 48 hours, not 24 hours. A judge can then extend it, in stages, up to 14 days without a charge. If the case merits it, it can even be pushed to 28 days. That 14-day cap exists for exactly this kind of file of vans, an airbase the United States uses, a possible foreign hand, explosives (if there were any) and interviews that are not finished on the first night. Counter-terrorism police said the inquiry isn’t over. They said conditions apply. They said a state link has not been ruled out. Those sentences he said only make sense if the evidence trail was still live. A live trail is why Parliament built the two-week window. But watching the guy read out the statement showed me in his body language, tone and eye movements that releasing those five men was NOT his or his department’s decision. Walking five men after roughly a day is what you do with a pub fight, not with a suspected terrorist attack on a bomber base. I’ve sat in enough interrogation rooms to know the difference between a custody clock and a political ceiling. Nobody had to shout an order down a phone. Someone in the political building above the investigators decided that charging British nationals on Monday, with Iran already denying it, Washington watching the runway, and a Labour conference where the main topics of discussion were prioritizing Palestinian and other refugees settling in the UK, was uglier than bail and a holding statement. The law allowed them to keep the door shut. Yet the door opened anyway in half of the most minimum time. That’s the story. That for me is the only story here. Not “they were innocent.” Not “the case collapsed.” The statute was not exhausted, but the appetite was. The real question is who, and most importantly, why?

I’ve been to almost all the major Tesla events since 2012. Tonight was definitely one of the best. The displays that Tesla set up were amazing. They showed the unboxed assembly, various systems, new battery pack design, demo cars, etc. And they had a ton of Tesla employees to chat with. Tonight was about Tesla saying “we promised a revolutionary new car and we’re delivering on our promises.”

Responding to our investigation, one of the UK's leading election lawyers explained why paying £32,500 for polling constituted donations to Reform: “This is a donation just as much as giving a gift of money directly to Reform. It's money that's coming from America. That's a foreign donation that's prohibited in our law. An arrangement is being proposed to cover up the fact that it's an impermissible donation... and that can be a criminal offence.” verbatiminvestigations.com/f…
Our yearlong investigation reveals Nigel Farage courting illicit funding as part of a plot to bring foreign money into British politics, orchestrated by his top aides and caught on hidden camera.

“It worked, boom.” That’s Nigel Farage celebrating a Reform UK plot to break election law - by having a US company secretly pay for three influential political polls that benefitted the party. Earlier in the investigation, Reform’s Head of Policy James Orr and senior advisor Dan Jukes arranged for a Verbatim reporter to pay for the polls through a US company. Orr and Jukes believed the firm was run by the reporter’s American father. Mr Farage was filmed by undercover reporters from @Verbatim_Media as part of a year-long investigation that Channel 4 News has thoroughly checked and verified. This meeting took place in his Clacton constituency in July - when Mr Farage was fighting a by-election he called after separate allegations about his finances.
