Per @CFBHeather, this is now a "handshake deal" with ESPN and the CFP. Some blocking and tackling and approvals still left, but the 24-team College Football Playoff remains on track to becoming a reality in 2027.

I used to stay up until 1 AM to watch this guy throw 80 passes for 600 yards against San Jose State. That was 20 years ago. Colt is long dead. It's these types of moments when the nostalgia hits you squarely in the face and you truly feel OLD. It's tough.
