I can confirm this is true. Most Chinese people believe Trump has contributed to making China great again, as his tariffs and aggression toward China spectacularly backfired. This forced China to accelerate innovation out of necessity to reduce its reliance on others.

Good news everyone: France's Foreign Minister 👇tells us that his "feminist diplomacy" is "fully mobilized to defend the rights of women in Iran"!
Sadly though, it doesn't seem to include the right of schoolgirls not to die under U.S. bombs... You can't have everything I guess 🤷
Sarcasm aside, this is truly European diplomacy at its most abject: weaponizing "human rights" to provide cover for very real atrocities committed by the power they serve as vassals of.
"We must save the women from the barbarians" has been the go-to moral laundering technique for Western wars of aggression for decades, and people are still falling for it... It's frankly disgusting.
La France pleinement mobilisée pour défendre les droits des femmes en Iran.
Nous leur disons toute notre solidarité, toute notre affection, toute notre admiration.

This is insane.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio just gave one of the most explicitly pro-colonialist speeches I have seen in the 21st century.
The US empire wants Europe to help it recolonize the Global South.
Rubio praised Western colonialists for "settl[ing] new continents, build[ing] vast empires extending out across the globe".
Then Rubio complained about the Global South's decolonization, portraying it as a sinister communist plot.
Rubio lamented: "The great Western empires had entered into terminal decline, accelerated by godless communist revolutions and by anti-colonial uprisings that would transform the world and drape the red hammer and sickle across vast swaths of the map in the years to come".
Rubio delivered this speech at the Munich Security Conference, surrounded by European leaders, who gave him a standing ovation. They loved the pro-colonialist diatribe.
The US secretary of state insisted that North American and European imperialists should unite in order to reverse "the West’s managed decline", to revive "the West’s age of dominance", to "renew the greatest civilization in human history".
This is a blatant call by the US empire to resuscitate Western colonialism and recolonize the Global South (which represents the Global Majority).
What the US empire did to Gaza, Venezuela, and currently Cuba is what it wants to do to the entire Global South.

There’s a concept that is prevalent in Chinese discourse but largely absent in the west, the way fish don’t talk about water: 話語權
It literally means “the power of speech” but functionally it’s closer to “agenda-setting power” or “narrative authority.” Let’s go with narrative authority.
For just about most of my life, the west possessed narrative authority almost by default. Narrative authority is why Mark Carney becomes an overnight sensation for acknowledging a few home truths that the global south has been voicing for years if not decades. It’s the first time somebody with mega narrative authority said those things.
Narrative authority is the ultimate soft power. In Carney’s pheasing, it is the privilege to “name reality.” Until a fact is articulated by someone with narrative authority, it might as well not be exist. Even if it is obvious to billions of people.
There are many ways narrative authority can fall apart. A big one is loss of control over platforms. TikTok is the perfect example of this. As a Chinese-owned platform, it had no incentive to privilege the pro-western POV. The danger was obvious to leaders in the US and so they moved to neutralize it.
But this is bolting the door after the horse escaped. The vibe…it has shifted.
Because TikTok is just the symptom. The true root cause of the loss in narrative privilege is the erosion of relative power. As China accumulates material power, it starts gathering and asserting its own narrative power.
TikTok was forced to change leadership and then lobotomized. RedNote is banned in Taiwan. The EU is flirting with a “democracy shield”. Everywhere you look, political entities that once boasted of their commitment to free speech are starting to play defense against hostile or unaligned narratives.
At this point the decentralization of narrative authority is an unstoppable global mega-trend. As this unfolds, there will be more intrusive censorship in the west and perhaps a loosening in the east.
I don’t see a reversal with China becoming the free speech superpower no matter how powerful they get…with a population of 1.4 billion they will always be wary of speech without walls.
But the walls will rise in the west, and that will come as a rude shock for the citizens who grew up with seemingly untrammeled discourse as a part of their birthright.
For the past 30 years, Chinese internet users had no choice but to learn to "dance in shackles" against the Great Firewall. They evade censors and carve out dignity in a surveilled internet.
I used to think this was uniquely Chinese. But watching America in 2025 and 2026, the algorithm manipulation and the recent TikTok stories, I keep thinking about what @yilingliu95 said to me:
"Americans are going to have to learn to be wall dancers, too."
Writer and journalist @yilingliu95 spent eight years documenting how Chinese internet users became "wall dancers." Her new book is coming out soon.
This is my full conversation with her: on writing as craft, the convergence of walls, living within truth, and more.

The entire Western media refuses to report on the deadly, Mossad-supported wave of riots in Iran, depriving their audiences of context
The anti-government violence has one ultimate objective: to convince the notoriously gullible Trump to bomb Iran on Israel’s behalf
As rioters burn Iranian cities, Western media ignores the anti-govt violence, turning instead to US-funded NGOs for data
The one-sided portrayal has helped push Trump to the brink of authorizing renewed US airstrikes
