As we begin Breast Cancer Awareness Month, members of the @TempePolice will once again proudly wear pink badges and patches throughout October in support of those impacted by breast cancer.
For us, the pink badge is more than a change in uniform, it’s a visible reminder of the strength of survivors, those currently fighting, the families who support them, and those we have lost.
Proud to wear pink this October. 🩷

Last night’s Community Chat with Tempe’s African American Advisory Committee was an important opportunity to listen, answer questions, and have meaningful conversations about policing, trust, and accountability.
We may not always agree, but building trust requires transparency, engagement, and a willingness to listen. I’m grateful to everyone who participated and committed to keeping these conversations going.

Before officers ever patrol the water, they have to prove they can survive it.
Tempe Police officers complete a survival swim in full gear before heading to boat school, including five minutes of treading water and a 200-meter swim.
Because when seconds matter, preparation matters.

Tempe has turned off its Flock automated license plate reader system and will end its contract with the company. The cameras are no longer collecting license plate data, and Tempe will not seek another company to replace the system.
While the cameras have helped Tempe Police solve crimes, recent misuse of automated license plate reader systems in Arizona and nationwide has raised concerns about the risks that come with the technology.
Tempe Police has found no misuse of its own Flock system.
Flock will remove its cameras, and previously collected data will be automatically deleted after 30 days unless it is connected to an ongoing case or investigation.
Read through the slides to learn more about the decision and what it means for Tempe.
