I'm a big fan of Fairlife protein.
They had a cyber attack 2 weeks back, which caused large-scale production halts and stock outs everywhere. I haven't been able to get my hands on it since.
I bought Muscle Milks (warning: they're nasty), and got sent down a rabbit hole on the whey supply chain. Or better yet, how it's skyrocketing.
Whey isolate jumped 400% in 2 years.
$2.50/lb -> $13+.
I plugged whey (90%) into a @TenkaraAI demo account and it cobbled together some interesting findings:
-616 prospective global producers spotted in a 24 hour analysis
-After enrichment: the best option quoted whey 23% cheaper than current market rates
-~85% of whey is domestically produced. The most competitive place to buy whey right now is the US itself.
Many manufacturers are leaving money on the table because switching vendors feels worse than the price hike.
We find alternative supply, qualify, onboard, and present options apples to apples on a DDP basis. Manufacturers get the benefits of switching with less of the sucky work that goes with it.
