Hello Tennessee Volunteer fans. Here is an email template I made requesting David Smith be removed from officiating any Vols game due to a "conflict of interest" bc of his playing days at Alabama. They have actually removed officials before of similar circumstances. #Vols #GBO To: [email protected] CC: [email protected], [email protected] Subject: Formal Request to Remove David Smith from Future Tennessee Football Assignments Hello, I am writing to formally request that the SEC reconsider assigning referee David Smith to future University of Tennessee football games. As a former starting quarterback for Alabama, Tennessee's biggest rival, Smith's history raises legitimate concerns about impartiality, particularly following the controversial officiating in Tennessee's recent game against South Carolina. While I am not accusing Smith of intentionally influencing games, the SEC has previously restricted officiating assignments to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. I believe that same consideration should apply here. With so many qualified officials available, there is simply no reason to continue assigning a former Alabama quarterback to Tennessee games when his impartiality could reasonably be questioned. I respectfully ask the SEC to remove Smith from future Tennessee assignments and would appreciate a response regarding this concern. Thank you for your consideration. - Name -
