I don’t talk about it often, because I’m extremely grateful for how my life turned out and plenty of other folks had a hard time. But my family and I lived in Chalmette and lost everything for Katrina. I was a junior and spent the year at two different high schools feeling out of place. This game coincided with being back at Hannan for my senior year when it reopened in portable trailers. Didn’t care how patched up it was, just thrilled to be back. Rushed home from school and watched all of Monday Night Countdown, eagerly waiting for kickoff. 5 minutes in, me and so many others were balling crying thanks to Steve Gleason and Curtis Deloatch. The @Saints gave us much needed hope that things would get back to normal. Monday night is going to be amazing. It breaks my heart that I won’t be there, but I’ll feel every ounce of the emotion through the TV!
