Let me clear something up. "YEARNING" is not defined by constraints. "YEARNING" is definitionally the reaching beyond constraints. It is reaching for what you cannot grasp. It is LONGING, it is a needful searching, and it is the impulse which spurs betterment. It is the Desire to see the happy ending, the motive to overcome your own failings, the act of bringing yourself closer to perfection; pulling yourself towards the goals beyond your reach, despite it being beyond your grasp. It is wanting for a completeness we lack, it is wanting to atone and repent for the mistakes of the past... because we YEARN to be better people. For ourselves and for our loved ones. Yearning does *NOT* mean constrained by how little we hurt others. Yearning is recognizing that we CAN, and HAVE, and want to be better... want those mis-steps to mean something meaningful rather than become habits and character. YEARNING is the desire to improve things. And sometimes that means, within fiction... in order to induce that yearning feeling, terrible and awful things must happen. Because the audience does not WANT such things to happen, they yell at the television screen, they argue at their books... because they become invested in the mistakes they are seeing, they become invested in the moment because they yearn for the terrible to be avoided!
