Ever heard of Project Kuiper? 🤔🛰️ It’s our low-earth orbit satellite constellation to provide broadband internet to remote areas around the world. Last week, we hit a big milestone. We’re “deorbiting” two of our prototype satellites – KuiperSat-1 and KuiperSat-2 – after they successfully completed their missions with 100% success rates. Deorbiting means the gradual process of lowering satellites out of orbit once they’ve completed their mission. This helps reduce space debris, which is part of our broader commitment to space safety and sustainability. So, what’s next? Back on Earth, our team of 2000+ is working on three big projects: 1⃣ – Scaling up our satellite manufacturing in Kirkland, Washington. 2⃣ – Installing gateway stations around the world. 3⃣ – Continuing construction on a dedicated satellite-processing facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, which will prepare our satellites for launch aboard rockets.

We know that sometimes an order can accidentally ship with a defect. While rare, that means one less happy customer. To solve for that, we built an #AI model for our fulfillment centers, codenamed "Project P.I." 🔍 Project P.I. uses image recognition and machine learning to scan packages for damage, defects, or issues like a wrong size or color – before the order ships. This helps us advance two of our biggest obsessions: serving our customers, and furthering our sustainability work. Fewer orders with defects means less wasted packaging and unnecessary carbon emissions get used to return the item. ♻️
