Epic doesn't even begin to describe it.
A founding member of BRICS wins against the full force of the US government, techno-feudalism and all usual suspects.

Necesitas estar bien estúpido para pensar que Estados Unidos va a luchar contra el narcotráfico. Ellos son el narcotráfico.
Jesus, "the one who specifically, explicitly, repeatedly told his followers to care for the poor, resist the powerful, refuse violence, love their enemies." 🔥
They built an entire civilization on the idea that God is on their side.
Not a foreign God. Not an old-testament God of wrath and conquest, which would at least be honest.
A Jesus God.
A turn-the-other-cheek, blessed-are-the-meek, it’s-easier-for-a-camel-to-pass-through-the-eye-of-a-needle-than-for-a-rich-man-to-enter-heaven God.
That God.
The one who specifically, explicitly, repeatedly told his followers to care for the poor, resist the powerful, refuse violence, love their enemies.
They took that God and they put him on aircraft carriers.
They put him in the mouths of politicians voting for defense budgets.
They gave him to televangelists who told congregations that wealth was "divine favor" and that bombing Muslim countries was "spiritual warfare."
They built the most powerful military empire in history and they wrapped it in the theology of a man who died opposing one.
And then they looked at the people praying in the ruins of the cities their planes had bombed and said:
"Their God is dangerous."

Still can’t believe people lost their minds over the “40 beheaded babies” and “babies in the ovens” fake stories, then went silent while Palestinian and Iranian children were being blown apart in real time.

Every year, the United States publishes a human rights report on every country in the world.
Every country.
It grades them. It describes their failures. It documents abuses of press freedom, judicial independence, treatment of minorities, use of detention without trial.
It does not publish one on itself.
It has never published one on itself.
The State Department's human rights bureau has reviewed the records of 190-plus nations.
The idea of reviewing its own has apparently not come up.
This is not oversight. This is a mirror turned permanently outward.
The country that has held men in Guantánamo for two decades without charge, while those same men aged from their twenties into their forties, grades other countries on arbitrary detention.
If irony had weight, it would have sunk the building by now.

The U.S. does not have a human rights policy.
It has a human rights vocabulary.
It says "genocide" when an enemy kills.
It says "security" when an ally kills.
It says "terrorism" when the poor fight back.
It says "unfortunate" when a drone hits a family.
Everyone has seen this pattern.
The only people who still buy the story are those who need the story more than they need the truth.

Diasporas who argue Horner politics (Eritrean and Ethiopian esp) calling for war like there isn’t a brutal human cost for the reality you seek. How privileged some of yall sound in your disconnect to the homeland calling for such atrocities back home. #nowar is a no brainer.

Powerful article by my wife on the dangers of mixing religion and the War Dept.
This quote captures heart of the matter: “You cannot sell cruelty, vengeance, forced belief or the celebration of human suffering and simply put Jesus’ name on top of it. Jesus is not a mascot.”

After 23 years, U.S. troops leave Iraq.
Invasion. Occupation. Chaos. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi victims including many women and children,
The original pretext in 2003? Iraq’s Weapons of Mass Destruction!
Fabricating lies to sell a war is not an exception in American statecraft. It is the plan— and the world pays the price.

Cuba.
A country with eleven million people.
Ninety miles from Florida.
No meaningful military capacity to threaten the United States.
Under economic embargo for over 64 years.
Sixty-four years.
The stated reason has evolved. Communism. "Democracy promotion." "Human rights." "The Castro regime." Then "the post-Castro regime."
The actual reason is simpler and more enduring:
Cuba refused.
Cuba nationalized American-owned property.
Cuba told Washington it would not be managed.
Cuba survived everything Washington threw at it: the Bay of Pigs, hundreds of assassination attempts, decades of economic strangulation.
And it remained, visibly, stubbornly, infuriatingly itself.
Cuba is not an enemy because it is dangerous.
Cuba is an enemy because it is defiant.
Because an island of eleven million people that successfully refuses American authority is more threatening to the logic of empire than any military power.
Because the empire cannot afford for refusal to be survivable.
Cuba has survived.
For sixty-four years.
The embargo continues.
Not to change Cuba.
To punish the existence of the example.

They told you the Vietnamese were a threat to American freedom.
In 1965. A country of rice farmers. On the other side of the planet.
They told you Grenada was a threat. Population: 91,000.
They told you Panama was a threat. They named the invasion Operation Just Cause, as if naming the justice of a thing makes it just.
They told you Iraq had weapons that could reach American cities.
They told you. And told you. And told you.
The "threat" was always urgent. Always existential. Always requiring immediate military response.
And the countries that were threatened by the response, the ones where the bombs fell, where the governments changed, where the children grew up in the wreckage of American strategic interests:
They were the aggressor.
The spell is not sophisticated.
It just requires that you never look at the map and ask who is actually surrounded by whose military bases.

The most protected people on earth are those who never have to consider what is done in their name.
Consider the geography of it.
If you live in a country that has been sanctioned, bombed, covertly destabilized, or regime-changed by America, you cannot avoid thinking about American power.
It is a physical fact of your life.
It shapes your economy, your politics, your infrastructure, your future.
If you live in America, you can go your entire life without seriously thinking about what your government does in the world.
You can watch the Super Bowl, pay your mortgage, argue about domestic politics, and never spend a single afternoon genuinely confronting the machine that operates in your name.
This is the ultimate imperial privilege.
Not wealth. Not military protection. Not a powerful passport.
The privilege of not having to know.
The privilege of the person in the house that is never bombed, reading about houses being bombed, and thinking: that is very unfortunate. I wonder what provoked it.

They want you to believe the world is dangerous because some people hate freedom.
No.
The world is dangerous because some states hate equality.
Because freedom was never the issue.
Control was.
Control of oil.
Control of resources beneath someone else’s soil.
Control of waterways.
Control of borders drawn in blood.
Control of the story told afterward.
And when people refuse to be controlled, suddenly their religion becomes the problem.
Their culture becomes the problem.
Their anger becomes the problem.
Their resistance becomes the problem.
Anything but the empire.
Anything but the boot.
