Here's a link to check to make sure your mail-in ballot was accepted and counted. If you live in an area where there are reports of mailboxes being lit on fire, make sure your vote reached its destination. Everyone should check regardless. legalconsumer.com/democracy/…

NEW: Two former Trump White House officials told me they had to show voter data to Trump to get him to release disaster funding to CA wildfire victims. He released it after learning that he had as many GOP supporters in Orange Co. as he did in Iowa. eenews.net/articles/helene-i…
This is so cool!
FUNGUS IN SPACE!!! 🍄🚀
Equal parts cosmic horror and nature being metal, let's talk about the lichen that grew on the OUTSIDE of the International Space Station!
Get your tea and curl up, because I PROMISE you wanna hear about these fungal cosmonauts 🧑🚀

Seeking scientist volunteers! Want to practice science communication and help author a ✨comic✨ about your research? I need collaborators for this spring's cohort of SciComm & Comics art students! Please share widely. #STEMeducation #Science #sciart

ALT Flyer advertising a need for scientists volunteers. "Call for scientists! Want to collaborate with an art student on a comic about your research? Learn more and sign up by Feb 1st." Simple cartoon heads are wearing hats that are designed to look like items symbolic of different scientific disciplines: an aromatic ring, a crystal, an ammonite, and a paramecium. It's that wonderful time of year when I offer extra credit to students for creating memes based on something they learned in CEE 433 Water Technology and Policy.
A humor-filled thread, with all credit to my students. Shared with permission. 🧵(1/n)

A young girl didn’t want to slaughter the goat she raised for 4H. The state senator who bought the goat at auction agreed to let it live out its days eating weeds. But sheriff’s deputies drove 500 miles to kill the goat and teach a 9-year-old a lesson.

I’ve lurked more than I’ve tweeted, but I’m setting up on qoto at mastodon. Parenting, social issues, compchem, pedagogy…I’ll miss the mix.
Sesame Street has done some amazing stuff!

@heydebigale I know you've posted buller journaling about acid/base decision trees for gen chem students. Have you done similar re: kinetics? I'd love to show my students someone else's visual organization of these topics! And yours are always beautiful.
I had my booster in October, and I'm really kinda wishing I could get another one now, as I look at starting a semester with 150+ students, F2F, in a county with meh vax and mask compliance.
Got my teen a booster appointment for Monday afternoon. Gonna try to crash a county booster clinic this afternoon as a walk-in anyway. On the phone they said 12-15 are allowed to show up, but can't register online until they update the settings this afternoon.
I hate working on service committees.
I mean, I don't. I want to make a difference. I want to contribute.
I *hate* having to wrangle reluctant "colleagues" who refuse to respond or contribute in any way. If you want faculty self-governance, you need to show up for governing.

This is pretty cool from @MathpixApp - handwritten chemical diagrams to SMILES mathpix.com/blog/handwritten…
My pchem class today felt so dead, despite how I tried to structure. I know tomorrow is another day, but I'm kind of tired of pulling teeth right now.

@redbubble is running a sale with coupon code--up to 60% off. But they won't let gift card holders make use of it. Keep this in mind, parents and aunties and uncles and cousins and friends, next gift-giving occasion.
My kid can get like half of what he chose, because @redbubble don't accept gift cards as "payment" but as "coupons".
So much for saving his gift card and practicing budgeting. Hours spent choosing what he wanted from @redbubble with his saved gift card, and now he can't use it for sale priced items.
