But not Israel’s genocide in Gaza, land theft in the West Bank, assassination in Iran, bombing in Yemen and Syria, exploding devices, flattening buildings and invasion in Lebanon, refusing ceasefires, rejecting international law or endless war crimes.
That’s good for the region.

Spain’s Ione Belarra:
“Those clutching their heads in disbelief at Iran’s attacks but have remained silent for months during the worst genocide in a century against Palestine by Israel are the height of hypocrisy. The entity responsible for this escalation has a name: the USA.”

I hate how therapy speak gave us the whole “I don’t owe anyone anything” framework because the literal opposite is true I owe so many people so much love and community and solidarity and friendship and accountability wyd do you mean

Can someone with bookish experience on both sides of the pond write something on the apparent Waterstones-ification of Barnes & Noble since Daunt took over?

We’ve lost 300+ followers now (and counting) which is so sad because Twitter as it was helped make our little indie bookshop and also saved it on many occasions. The truth is that about 80% of our sales came through this platform, but with #BookTwitter diminishing as people (understandably) leave we’ve noticed a significant drop in sales. We’re on Threads, Blue Sky and Insta which are much nicer, but they don’t appear to be very good for generating sales. So, a plea… if you know of anyone staying here that would appreciate a mostly online, indie, woman-owned, family-run bookshop that specialises in #signed books, regularly donates to charity, brings you exciting author events in and around Yorkshire, and always has a #SALE section, then please can you recommend us to them? And we have cats! See Maui and Baobao below 🧡🦊

Outstanding Aljazeera journo @AnasAlSharif0 fell apart after today’s massacre. He told us he can’t carry the load anymore, but he’s the only remaining AJ journalist in the north of Gaza that Israel hasn’t assassinated (yet). We begged him, because w/o his voice, we’d all be lost

The atrocious scenes unfolding across the U.K. are the culmination of a state and media campaign to dehumanise and stigmatise people of colour in this country. Calling us ‘swarms’, ‘fleas’, ‘hoardes’ and ‘illegal’.

I’ve logged on and there’s video after video of lone black men or Asian men being attacked by a massive group of white males up and down the country, head kicking, punching and chasing. This is a nightmare and the current home sec and PM can’t even utter the word racism.

The #Mosque in Hartlepool that was attacked by far right thugs.
Last year it gave £25k to the British Legion through the sale of poppies
Cooked over 25k meals for people in Hartlepool who were hungry
Anybody got a list of what the far right thugs have done for their communities?
