Thinking about being Irish and living in London in the ‘80s I went to a comedy club. The comedian asked “Is anyone here from Ireland “ I foolishly raised my hand. He said “If he leaves, we all leave” Funny joke but still bigoted

I strongly disagree. You can dislike the ad (I do) but consent is not just about sexual relationships. It is actually healthy to teach children that they are entitled to physical boundaries & pointing out they are not obliged to embrace anyone (including grandparents) is good
Replying to @OCallaghanJim
While it is vital to ensure that people understand the concept of consent when it comes to sexual relationships, this video did not advance that aim and in many ways was counterproductive.

In Iceland there are place names of Irish origins; Bekansstaðir (‘Beecan’s place’), Njálsstaðir (‘Nial’s place’) & Írafell (‘Mount Irish’)! There's also Irish names relating to the Papar (pre-Norse Irish monks) in the Faroes, Orkneys, Shetland Islands & Hebrides #LeifEriksonDay

The @DisneyPhotoPass photographers are a fantastic bunch but are working with the constraints of crowds. A little editing magic goes a long way. A whole different kind of crowd control

Children having lemonade stands for cancer ridden siblings gives me the same feeling. It is not a feel good story
No single genre of news story annoys me so much as the reframing of gross structural injustice as a “feelgood” story because strangers helped.

I remember a joke about a barfly sitting day drinking and the bartender said “Jesus you smell like you shit yourself” . He said “I have” bartender l: “Why don’t you go and clean yourself” the response “I haven’t finished yet”
If you shit yourself you should stop whatever it is you are doing, Hyrox or not, and go home.

Nothing about this is motivational btw. Like there’s no way you can spin this to make it sound inspirational
An Australian competitor at HYROX Beijing suffered sudden fecal incontinence mid-race due to intense physical stress — but still pushed through and finished strong. Race organizers confirmed they immediately isolated and disinfected the affected area, disposing of equipment and waste in line with regulations. After the event, they replaced the carpet and ran a full deep-clean of the venue.

There’s no need to mention his name; you all know who his father is. 😭 he picked up his father's mannerisms exactly. they behave the exact same way when talking.
