Happy to announce that I have accepted a position at @wwmtnews, @upnorthlive and @midmichigannow to be their statewide political reporter.
Looking forward to informing Michiganders from the capitol!
RIGHT NOW: Former President Barack Obama takes stage, urges votes for Abdul El-Sayed, Jocelyn Benson and Democrats down ballot.
“We’re voting for change here in Michigan,” Obama said, referring to a decade of Trump.
RIGHT NOW: Democratic Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed speaks ahead of former President Barack Obama.
RIGHT NOW: Democratic Michigan Gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson speaks ahead of former president Barack Obama.
Texas, which has a part time legislature, meets for 140 days every two years.
73 days a year for two years is 146.
My sit down with @JocelynBenson:
In an interview, Benson this week outlined her positions on top issues. bit.ly/3UCE3wi
I will say when I’ve had the opportunity to feature down ballot candidates in both parties, I have.
We did cover the SOS debate, but have admittedly not had much coverage of the AG race.
TUNE IN NOW:
I host a U.S. Senate special featuring interviews with both @AbdulElSayed and @MikeRogersForMI with analysis from @MarkBrewerDems and @jcroe.
A lot of work put in and I think you'll like it!

I'm no Steve Kornacki, but I will be live throughout the night on News Channel 3, UpNorthLive, Mid-Michigan NOW and Sinclair stations across the country covering the Michigan U.S. Senate race. Tune in!
Very excited we can announce this: NBC will be live for **13 hours** on Election Night/overnight, starting at 5pm.
And....concurrent with this...I am going to be doing the livestream!! That will go up at 5:30 and I'll stay on all night with results, results, results.
This is only happening because so many of you tuned in and helped us spread the word this primary season. Can't thank you all enough for that. I really hope you'll join us for what is going to be an epic, all-night experience - and again help us spread the word far and wide! Can't wait for 11/3!

Bob Costas was 18 when his father dropped dead at JFK airport. At the wake, a man handed him a thick envelope with $6,000 in $100 bills. It was everything his father left behind, and a bookie would never have paid it to a dead man.
In the video below, he tells the story himself.
His father, John, was a big-time gambler. Not casinos, not racetracks. Ball games. Bob says the mortgage was literally riding on his bets.
When the games went the wrong way, he threw things, cursed and yelled. Bob’s mom and sister would leave. Bob stayed, because watching the games with his dad was the only way to be close to him.
Friday, May 15, 1970. A cop knocks on the door. Before he says a word, Bob’s mother asks, “My husband’s dead, isn’t he?” John Costas had a heart attack walking through JFK. He was 42.
At the wake, one of his gambling buddies walked in with the envelope. “Your father was up when he died. Give this to your mother.” A bookie never pays a dead man, so the friend went to the bookie himself and said John sent him to collect.
Decades later, Bob Costas refused to read sports betting ads on air. Today the bookie lives in everyone’s phone. Is that progress?
Fun Fact:
The U.K. has a industry regulator for polling companies.

A social experiment, “not intended to sway” any election, could have very well done so, Sen. McMorrow says:
As one of the candidates featured in these polls - the infamous one in late June that showed me plummeting into single digits (which was at odds with our internals) - here's the impact of this "experiment"
- Donations dried up
- Volunteers were devastated and pleading for guidance on what to do
- Reporters hounded me with calls to drop out
Sure, a point was proven. Polling is broken. But tens of thousands of people poured their hearts, time, energy, hard-earned money into something they believed in - for a year-and-a-half, and it was treated like a game. Our volunteers gave their all. And then some. I felt like I had let so many of them down.
To be extremely clear, Michigan Democrats are locked in to beat Mike Rogers. We WILL send @AbdulElSayed to the US Senate.
But between crap like this, endless fundraising texts that drive supporters away with spammy fake deadlines and trash "match" claims, scam PACs run rampant for firms to grift without actually supporting candidates, undisclosed content creators pushing content out either misrepresenting themselves as residents of states they don't live in or hiding whether they were paid and by who so they could make a buck, and the tidal wave of dark money ads -- I hope Democrats are ready to blow up the system with campaign finance and transparency reforms.
Trust is already at an all-time low. We don't get out of this mess without rebuilding trust.
And media - who loves to ride the drama of a pollercoaster - needs to take a hard look at what's legitimate and what's not.
If this teaches us anything - DON'T GET COMPLACENT AND DON'T TRUST THE POLLS.
LOCK IN. SIGN UP FOR A CANVASSING SHIFT. LEAVE NOTHING TO CHANCE OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.
Coming up this Thursday, our U.S. Senate special will air featuring interviews with both candidates and analysis from @jcroe, @MarkBrewerDems and WMU professor Dr. John Clark.
