True or not, this type of narrative is precisely why I have always been skeptical that enterprises will adopt Chinese models for AI and agentic work. 😬
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected. Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions. Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent. But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models? We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem. Read the full report: cohere.com/blog/concerning-b…

📌 As a kid one of my favorite places to be was the library 📚 So I was excited to learn about the Lenovo AI Library The Lenovo AI Library is a repository of proven, pre-validated, and vertically optimized AI deployment templates. This software stack sits on top of partner hardware (like NVIDIA or AMD) to orchestrate and optimize infrastructure. But while the library is cool 😎 in and of itself, it represents Differentiated Lenovo Intellectual Property (IP) at scale This IP scales by allowing enterprises to bypass custom AI development pipelines, accelerating AI deployment speeds by up to 24x faster and dramatically increasing the data "value per token". #LenovoGIAC2026 Cc: @MaribelLopez | @tcrawford | @ebizexec

Exciting but early stage research on self-destructing cancer cells. The peer-reviewed paper is: “Harnessing endogenous carbon monoxide for cancer-selective drug synthesis by Kawai et al. Journal: Nature Communications, volume 17, article 9603. 17 September 2026.
Scientists in Japan have figured out how to make cancer cells end themselves. They forced cancer cells to poison themselves by creating a toxin that reacts with carbon monoxide, causing the toxin to only affect cancer cells. Normal cells were unharmed in lab tests.

I think a lot of folks are interpreting this as the end of neoclouds as a whole. More realistically there will be a small subset of winners divided between true neoclouds and land power shell (LPS) developers that will thrive and grow. And then there will be consolidation of smaller outfits that will bring the numbers down from hundreds two a dozen or two. On the neocloud side there is room for $CRWV $NBIS $IREN and maybe 1-2 more to prosper. On the LPS side there are many. I remain bullish on $CIFR and $WULF here. This segment will all but surely consolidate. 👀

Who decides whether a Bitcoin payment is valid? Not a bank. Independent nodes check it against shared rules, while miners add blocks. That allows BTC to move without a central operator, but protecting your private keys remains your responsibility. Microblog by @antgrasso
