Mario Bedosti of FIC Argentina explains how the #GlobalTobaccoIndex helps identify industry interference and turn evidence into stronger tobacco-control advocacy. The 2025 findings from Argentina show continued pressure around tax policy and newer tobacco and nicotine products. This reinforces the need to keep industry tactics visible — and equip advocates and policymakers with evidence to counter them. #SafeguardTobaccoControl #StopTobaccoInterference #ProtectPublicHealth #ProtectYouth @ficargentina @StopCorpAbuse

The #GlobalTobaccoIndex is not just about documenting interference; it is a practical accountability tool. In South Africa, Prof. Lekan Ayo-Yusuf of the National Council Against Smoking explains how the Index helps identify where government protections against tobacco industry influence need to be strengthened. The 2025 findings show why this matters: industry-aligned groups continue to oppose stronger tobacco-control legislation, while government interactions with the industry around illicit trade remain insufficiently transparent. Hear him explain how the Index provides a roadmap for strengthening evidence-based tobacco control legislation. #ProtectPublicHealth #StrongerTobaccoControl #WHOFCTC #StopIndustryInterference @TobaccoMonitor @AfricaNoTobacco

#GTI2025 dissemination series: Today, we spotlight how overlapping public and tobacco industry roles can raise conflict-of-interest concerns. The Global Tobacco Industry Interference Index 2025 found that in five out of 100 countries surveyed, public officials held tobacco industry roles while still in public service. These overlapping roles can allow tobacco industry interests to become embedded in public decision-making, weakening the separation between those who regulate and those who benefit from the industry. Learn more about conflict-of-interest risks in tobacco control through the Global Tobacco Industry Interference Index 2025: globaltobaccoindex.org/gti/2… Watch out for more key findings from the #GTI2025. @exposetobacco @SEATCAdotOrg @StopCorpAbuse @AfricaNoTobacco
