Imported liquefied natural gas will expose us to fluctuations in international prices, shipping costs and the exchange rate...we are paying for the failures of Medupi & Kusile which ran billions of rand over budget while government wants to lock us into expensive imported gas.

PetroSA’s rehabilitation fund shortfall is a ticking timebomb. This is one more indictment of the many failures of leadership of PetroSA and Dept of Mineral & Petroleum Resources over decades. The DMPR, CEF and PetroSA were contacted for comment. None replied.

OPINION | By bringing the Climate Change Act into law, it is clear that there is recognition of the need to address this crisis. Why then do we continue to see more fossil fuel legislation being proposed, such as the (SANPC) Bill?

What do we call it when ordinary people must fight their own government to protect vulnerable communities and the environment?
On 1–2 June, The Green Connection, Aukotowa Fisheries & Natural Justice head to the WC High Court to challenge seismic blasting off SA’s West Coast.
