TLDR of what happened to Privacy Cash: Following the Binance hack, $1.2M in stolen funds were deposited into Privacy Cash’s shielded pools. Most compliance-heavy privacy protocols would block these funds from entering through a screening process, but in this case, the attacker was able to deposit nearly double Privacy Cash’s total TVL into their shielded pools. The problem, and the reason they’re halting deposits, is that Privacy Cash has no mechanism to allow users to prove their innocence or separate illicit funds that entered the shielded pool. This means it’s impossible to distinguish between the existing legitimate funds and the illicit funds deposited by the Binance attacker. As a result, any Privacy Cash-linked funds are now commingled with the Binance attacker funds and flagged by every screener as such. There are ways to mitigate this from ever happening. For example, with Umbra you'd be able to verifiably prove using viewing keys that you infact are not the attacker, or are not in possession of any illicit/tainted funds by generating token and time bound keys for authorities and exchanges to verify themselves. Zcash and Monero use a similar viewing-key function as well. If Privacy Cash had compliance as part of the protocol it would have independent viewing keys enabled for the good-actors, instead the entire pool is now tainted.
We’re pausing Privacy Cash deposits temporarily. When we started Privacy Cash, our goal was to make privacy tools for everyday people, not to enable crime. In light of the recent Binance hack, we want to make sure bad actors can’t use our product. During the pause, we’ll continue strengthening our wallet screening system. Withdrawals will remain available. Stay tuned for updates on when the service will resume. Thanks for understanding. Privacy is for everyone, but not for criminals.

The @FBI and our partners are seeing malicious cyber activity targeting industrial refrigeration and cold-chain monitoring systems around the world. These systems help keep food, medicine, and other products at safe temperatures and are widely used across critical infrastructure sectors. Attackers are targeting electronic temperature and refrigeration controllers, particularly in grocery stores and cold storage facilities. In at least one recent incident, attackers targeted refrigeration components at three foreign blood service facilities. While this attack was unsuccessful due to the proper alert mechanisms in place, security weaknesses in unpatched or internet-accessible controllers can allow attackers to change system settings, potentially causing inventory loss and equipment damage. The FBI urges organizations using these systems to take the following steps: ➡️ Take controllers off the public internet ➡️ Put access behind a firewall ➡️ Change default passwords ➡️ Learn how vendors configure devices ➡️ Set safe temperature limits ➡️ Ensure alerts reach the right contacts For technical details and more information on how to protect these systems, read our advisory: ic3.gov/CSA/2026/261105.pdf

Banks are starting to run from AI data center debt. ING has put about $500 million of data center loans up for sale all at once, Bloomberg reports. That's 12 loans, including a $25 million piece of OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle's Stargate site in New Mexico. Banks are the ones closest to these projects. They see the contracts, the power deals and the delays before anyone else. And at Stargate, the warning signs are already there. Oracle has sent the developer a force majeure notice, a legal step that can excuse it from its obligations if events beyond its control get in the way. Now the market is turning too. Yesterday, the S&P 500 lost $3 trillion in a single day as fears grew that Democrats will go after AI and data centers. Junk bonds tied to data center companies like CoreWeave were among the hardest hit. The whole AI buildout runs on borrowed money. Big Tech has raised $326 billion in debt and new shares this year alone to keep it going. If the lenders are heading for the exit, who'll fund the AI build up?

** IMMINENT STOCK MARKET CRASH OCTOBER 26, 2026-NOVEMBER 9, 2026 ** I am writing this message to give a detailed analysis, as to what I believe will be happening starting Monday October 26, 2026, and the main event to take place the following Monday November 2-3, 2026, with the bottom of the crash coming on November 9. I also want to explain what I believe the Federal Reserve is going to do as a means of trying to fix the crisis, and how it is going to lead to the end of the U.S dollar, bringing about a sovereign debt and currency crisis. This crisis will be the main focal point and issue that the Democratic Party is going to run on in the 26' midterms and the 28' elections, undermining the Republican Party and Donald Trump's populism, and eventually using it to try to usher in Communism, via a World Economic Forum/Black Rock policy and vision.

If you're an iPhone user, read this. Hackers just stole $4.06 MILLION in crypto through cyberattacks that started with just one click. The victim said they tapped an ad in Safari before wallet apps were emptied. An iOS exploit kit such as DarkSword is suspected. DarkSword chains together iOS security flaws to compromise vulnerable iPhones. Opening a malicious Safari page is enough to steal passwords, photos, Notes and wallet data. No wallet connection, signature, or approval needed. Other attacks reported in 2026: 1. Instagram ads - iPhone was infected while they scrolled past a malicious ad 2. Pegasus spyware - iPhone was infected without clicking a link or downloading a file. 3. P7 DarkSword - spyware capable of extracting passwords, photos, Notes and wallet data. 4. Fake Apple preorder pages - fake iPhone website launched an infection attempt simply when opened. 5. iMessage - A zero-click exploit infected an iPhone with spyware capable of accessing messages, microphone and camera. 6. Telegram downloads - modified iPhone apps collected location, device information and screenshots while open. 7. App Store malware - 2 apps carried SparkCat, which scanned photos for seed phrases after users granted access. 8. Coruna - 23 exploits used in espionage and financially motivated attacks against older iOS versions. _____ Now here's what you should do: • Update iOS and apps NOW. Enable automatic updates too. • Avoid unsolicited app downloads and configuration profiles. • Limit apps’ access to Photos, location, microphone and camera. • Keep seed phrases out of screenshots and Notes. • Consider Lockdown Mode if you face heightened spyware risks.

I'm Sam, one of Anthropic's co-founders, and I lead much of our safety work. I'm going to have more to share on that work over the coming months. I thought I'd start by sharing a few thoughts on the latest report from @METR_Evals. The speed of progress in model capabilities is one of the most important questions in AI safety, and METR’s work here provides the public with an independent, external view into how this is happening inside Anthropic. I’ll talk more about some of the details below, but first some context for those new to this work. How quickly AI progress is accelerating has many important safety implications, since it determines how quickly the risks from advanced models increase. But, because most research happens within the frontier labs, it’s difficult for external observers and policy makers to get a strong sense of what that rate is. We kicked off the process with METR that led to this report earlier in the year, in anticipation of progress continuing to accelerate. For this report, we gave METR access to a range of sensitive internal data, including benchmark scores for unreleased models, estimates of how models are progressing, and interviews with our researchers. They had complete independence to form their own conclusions. Many of their conclusions match my own. AI is speeding up our research, but it’s hard to say exactly how much. While they conclude AI can't yet make the most important contributions to model training on its own, they think the pace of development could, by default, accelerate further. This work began well before and is separate from the embedded third-party evaluators that are part of our commitment to pacing the frontier, but it’s a good illustration of why we think evaluators are a good idea. The more access reviewers have, the clearer a picture they can form of the situation and the better-positioned they are to highlight situations like this one. We redacted a lot, and I accept that this makes it harder for others to check METR’s work. But we determined that sharing exactly what is driving the speedup isn’t the right thing to do, both because it’s commercially sensitive and because it risks handing out a roadmap for others to go faster. That would make the risks METR is worried about worse. That’s a tradeoff. I think we made the right call, though we’re continuing to assess the pros and cons here. In the coming weeks, we plan to share a report with our own analysis of the speed of AI progress within Anthropic, including where we stand against our Responsible Scaling Policy, plus new steps we’re taking to strengthen our safety and security practices as AI keeps improving quickly.
Since August, a team within METR has worked with internal Anthropic information to assess whether AI itself is accelerating AI development. We are now publishing a report summarizing the results of this risk assessment.

First ever post from Sam McCandlish. Anthropic co-founder and Chief Architect, leads pretraining and RL. He says Anthropic is preparing to share a report on their internal acceleration. Bet on this being the announcement they have hit the 2x Responsible Scaling Policy threshold.

Crypto is being massively stolen from users of various crypto wallets through… 18+ websites - victims have already lost $5,570,000 due to a vulnerability in iOS 18. It’s all because of the DarkSword vulnerability: just open an infected website via Safari and malicious code is already running on your smartphone - passwords, messages, photos, and crypto wallet files (including private keys) are under attack. Update iOS to the latest version as soon as possible. And never ever store photos of your seed phrase in the gallery or write it in Notes!

Crypto security is cooked. DarkSword allegedly exploits iOS vulnerabilities through a simple Safari link. No wallet connection. No signatures. No approvals. Just opening a malicious website could expose your wallets and seed phrases. 20+ wallets targeted. One click.

INTEL: $4.06M DRAINED FROM IPHONES WITH ONE SAFARI CLICK DarkSword is an iOS exploit kit Google, Lookout and iVerify tracked in the wild. On iOS 18.4–18.7, opening a malicious site in Safari is enough. No wallet connect. No signature. No approval. What it steals from the phone: > Keychain credentials > Notes and Photos (seed screenshots) > Crypto wallet files and private keys Bitquery then followed the money on-chain (5 Oct – 4 Nov UTC): > At least $4.06M USDT from 365 TRON wallets > 43 collector wallets tied to one fee wallet >+$103K from 65 wallets on 8 other chains > One theft matches a published iPhone victim to the second SlowMist also mapped 1,500+ related phishing domains. This is not a Trust Wallet bug - it's the phone. Do this now: 1. Update iOS (18.7.7+ or iOS 26.3+) 2. Never store seeds in Photos, screenshots or Notes 3. If an unknown wallet just sent you a few TRX/ETH for "fees," move funds to a fresh wallet on a clean device
