How long is the stench of the “sham” going to corrode the meaning, worth, and very essence of the Premier League?
Listening to commentary about Manchester City’s players matching the defiance of their ownership and triumphing in adversity.
Listening to fans chorusing the names of the men running the club, wearing masks or displaying banners of their faces and jibing: “We’re Man City, we’ll cheat when we want.”
Victory being framed as “a lovely moment,” a show of togetherness as though some grave injustice has been imposed on City, rather than their hierarchy being found by an independent commission to have orchestrated financial doping on an industrial scale.
Their opponents and the rest of us wondering if any of this actually matters now and how much of it ever did?
There can be no business as usual pretence. We need a full stop to the absurdity.

Just because Michael Carrick doesn’t let rip in press conferences doesn’t mean he lacks “passion”. You don’t start off at five, playing in Under-9s five-a-sides at Wallsend Boys Club, getting beaten 14-0 and still in there fighting for a comeback without having a competitive nature. You don’t leave a loving, secure home at 16, move to West Ham, and make it as a pro without being driven.
You don’t become seventh on the list of Manchester United’s all-time appearance makers – behind only Giggs, Scholes, G Nev, Rooney, De Gea and Keane – win five titles for one of the most demanding managers in history, overcome a bout of depression, take and nail a penalty in a Champions League final without having strength of character. You don’t captain United for a season unless you have leadership qualities.
Leadership comes in differing forms. Carrick is a quiet leader, who will have his say behind closed doors, for the players, not for the cameras. Not for show. Carrick has a big job on at Manchester United but don’t doubt his determination to get it right. Because he cares about the Club, the staff, the players and the fans. Good luck to him. #MUFC

Grieving the loss of one of my best friends, Jim Lovell. His extraordinary legacy is cemented by many space missions: Gemini VII, Gemini XII, Apollo 8 and Apollo 13.
Our mutual respect had no limits. The Gemini XII mission we flew together paved the way for the Apollo missions.
Heartfelt condolences to Jim’s family.
Farewell Jim. You will be missed, my friend. Godspeed!

The Apollo 13 mission launched on April 11th, 1970 – 55 years ago today. Above all else, Apollo 13 showed the greatness that people are capable of when put to a test with the highest stakes. Over the course of several tense days, the Apollo 13 crew (Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert) and the NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration team on Earth worked as one to save lives and bring the spacecraft home. Apollo 13 will always remain a shining episode in America’s history. #AProudSalute to all of you for your extraordinary efforts during that challenging time.

Just spoke to Brian Kidd.
"He was slight, with the heart of a lion. An unbelievable finisher, he scored every type of goal. He said to me: 'If you're ever wide, don’t look up, put the cross in early. If I’m not there it’s my fault'. He was usually there. Sir Matt loved him. We all did. He was the King of the Stretford End."
