It’s a rough day for local journalism across Ontario. We all lose when local news is diminished.
Thinking about the staff @PtboThisWeek @KLThisWeek and @PtboExaminer who are impacted by today’s cuts.

So sad to hear about the passing of Dr Tom Phillips. Great conversations and insights were always on offer and will be greatly missed. A significant loss personally and for Peterborough.
If you own a business or live in Downtown #Ptbo, here are some important numbers to save and know. There are many people struggling out there today. If you are unable to help, call someone who can. Be kind and treat everyone how you would like to be treated #dignity #compassion

With provincial changes, and ongoing high levels of COVID transmission (though fortunately decreased from the omicron peak), I strongly recommend individuals who haven’t been vaccinated to do so as soon as possible, including their 3rd dose (or 4th if immunocompromised).
I've just taken the O'de Piitaanemaan Pledge with @pktourism. I encourage you to read the pledge and join me! thekawarthas.ca/pledge/ #OdePiitaanemaanPledge

No time wasted: as I'm still writing, the city puts out a press release to say "George Street will be closed from McDonnel Street to King Street from 3 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020 until Sunday night to help people with physical distancing as businesses resume more activities.."
