The Sexual Shadow, Evil, and the Occult Forces Behind Human Desire Most people have no idea how dark true evil can be because they have never faced their own shadow or potential for evil, so they're shocked when they see darkness in others. That is also why people who have not faced their own shadow are more vulnerable to manipulation by evil forces that hide behind a mask of sanity and “niceness” in human form. Carl Jung said that our lack of insight into our own personal shadow and unconscious evils deprives us of the capacity to deal with evil in the world. With regard to sexual abuse by the powerful, this goes far beyond sexual desire, fetishes, or power. It even goes beyond attraction to children, especially when viewed through an esoteric, occult lens. At that level, you are dealing with asuric, soratic, and demonic entities working through and possessing certain members of the powerful elite, who serve as empty vessels for forces most humans are unaware of. Humanity is not at the top of the food chain, and powerful non-physical beings feed on suffering, torture, lust, and human indulgence in the lower nature. But all of humanity is influenced and manipulated by beings from the astral realm to varying degrees, not just “the elite.” So be careful about simply pointing fingers at others. The sexual instinct is one of the easiest vectors to manipulate. It is recognized in many occult and esoteric traditions that the sex gate and the self-preservation gate, meaning fear and survival, are among the easiest points through which human beings can be manipulated and are specifically targeted by malevolent astral entities. As Dion Fortune wrote in her classic Psychic Self-Defense: “There are two gates by which the attacker can gain entrance to the city of Mansoul, and these are the Self-Preservation Instinct and the Sex Instinct.” And the sexual shadow is one of the darkest shadows of humanity. That is why OnlyFans models can make hundreds of millions of dollars per year. Why porn sites are among the most visited websites in the world. Why sex trafficking is a multi-billion-dollar industry. Why the movie and music industries, and our entire culture, are hyper-sexualized. Why women on social media sexualize themselves with “thirst posts.” Why people can become obsessed with youth, anti-aging, cosmetic procedures, and plastic surgery in an attempt to retain their sexual attractiveness and desirability. Why sexual attraction is mistaken for love. Why crude sexual humor is always popular. Why sex sells in advertising. And it is also why people who present themselves as morally superior, religiously “pure,” or as defenders of traditional and conservative values, while obsessively judging and shaming others as sinful, carry a heavily repressed sexual shadow that they project onto others. Often, there is also an unconscious hatred toward women rooted in an unresolved mother wound and disconnection from the feminine. You can spot this dynamic easily when people claim Burning Man is “satanic” or shame OnlyFans models from their inflated moral high horse. That shadow seeks expression in secret and, in extreme cases, can surface as compulsive porn use, abusive behavior, or worse, all while maintaining the public mask of being “righteous,” “moral,” and “pure.” There is a reason why some of the highest consumption of gay porn online has been reported in areas of the U.S. Bible Belt, where some of the most anti-gay and gay-hating forms of Christianity are also found. People also feed on attention for their sexual attractiveness and are mechanically attracted to what appeals to the lower nature. Through these internal openings, all kinds of non-physical forces they are unaware of can feed as well, even installing sexual desires that are not their own. The entry point is always the shadow and unconscious trauma. As within, so without. Even Gurdjieff said that much of ordinary social interaction is mechanically driven by the distorted sexual impulse, resulting in the 'wrong workings of the sexual center.' People are under the illusion that if the elite pedophiles are arrested, everything will change, or that if porn is made illegal, the problem will disappear. Far from it. That is merely cutting a branch off a tree while leaving its roots intact. The branch will always grow back, often stronger than before, just as the shadow becomes darker, more powerful, and more perverse the more it is denied, repressed, and projected instead of faced and integrated. Integrating the shadow, by the way, does not mean acting it out or indulging it, as shadow work itself can become distorted when “integration” is used as an excuse to justify unconscious impulses, desires, or destructive behavior. We can already see the result in the normalization of sexual pathology and fetishes throughout our hyper-sexualized world and swipe-left "hook-up" culture. The solution is neither indulgence, as in the hippie “free love” movement, or as it has become “spiritualized” in the distorted Neo-Tantra movement, nor religious condemnation and repression. Both avoid confronting the shadow in different ways. Repression, in particular, only drives it further underground, resulting in more shadow projection and giving these forces more power. In other words, shadow work is the name of the game. As understood in the esoteric tradition, the spiritual Creative Force is not the Sex Force itself, but the Divine life-force that gives the sex force its creative power. If this continuous stream of Creative Force is not consciously utilized and expressed through creative activity, it can gradually accumulate and become diverted into sexual energy and compulsive desire. This, in turn, can create an opening for hostile entities that feed on sexual loosh and stimulate even more sexual thoughts, fantasies, and desires that people mistake for their own, while disconnecting them from the Creative Force and their own creative potential. We can already see the result in a culture where so many people have become passive consumers, imitators, and spectators rather than original creators and unique transducers of Divine Will. The issue, therefore, is not sexuality itself. The issue is whether the Creative Force is consciously embodied, directed, and transformed, or mechanically discharged through the lower nature while the individual remains unconscious of what is actually acting through them and installing desires and thoughts they mistake for their own. This is also why facing evil cannot be separated from facing our own shadow. And that is why inner differentiation is one of the most important aspects of inner work and self-knowledge: learning not to lump every thought, desire, impulse, or feeling together as “I.” If we refuse to confront the darkness, wounds, desires, and unconscious impulses within ourselves, we remain much more vulnerable to forces that can work through those very entry points.
