Glenn Loury on how Ta-Nehisi Coates provides guilty liberal elites the words they need whilst our discourse around race refuses to address the suffering and deaths of thousands of Black people every year
It is a morally reprehensible situation and he gets rightly heated

Everyone who is saying that Kyle Rittenhouse would have been found guilty if he were black should recall that Kenneth Walker (Breonna Taylor's bf) shot a cop (!) in self-defense and was cleared of all charges (and rightly so).
It's amazing how selective people's memories are.

I’ve now received so many death threats I could paper the house with them, and I haven’t stopped speaking out. Perhaps – and I’m just throwing this out there – the best way to prove your movement isn’t a threat to women, is to stop stalking, harassing and threatening us. 8/X
Super dangerous route for @guardian, I paper I used to trust, to go down.
Any journalists who work there please find the courage to speak up against this divisive & hateful stuff. We’re headed to a bad place otherwise.

Stunned and disappointed by the utter cowardice and spinelessness of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
These politicians, protecting their own short-term interests, will lead us into yet more chaos and division.
The absolute split in perception on the Kyle Rittenhouse case contributes to my feeling that we might be only a few years and a couple of bad events away from something approaching a civil war
Political differences aside we should be able to agree on some of the evidence of what happened that night.
If you aren’t aware of the beneath, please consider the media / social media you consume.
Don't let media and echo chamber bias divide us.
Are people who think that Rittenhouse wasn't acting in self-defense aware that:
- J. Rosenbaum chased KR & lunged for his gun
- A. Huber was hitting KR with a skateboard as he lay on the ground with others closing in
- G. Grosskreutz was shot after he pointed his gun at KR
?
Lot of people bout to be mad that Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty because they were fed an entirely biased version of events and the court case

Woke is a fine term, don’t let them change it. It’s just part of an endless language game. Don’t play.
