One of my most recognized round angles ever, “The Job Application”. I had a huge battle the following week against OkWerdz in Canada. At this time battlers battling every week or 2 wasn’t as common and frankly I was nervous. Moneybagz was a beast and a dangerous opponent to momentum I had at the time. These were also before the times when you could just say “I took a battle for a check” and be given grace. Plus I was never that person. I was hesitant to take the battle for these reasons but the person who asked me was Poison Pen. You can’t say no to that man. Not to mention how many times he had looked out for me. The battle would be in NY which was another problem. Not only was Moneybagz from NY but he was widely respected deservedly so. He was also in one of the premiere battle crews Team Homi. I got a lot of dope stuff in my first 2 rounds, name flips, cool rhyme etc but hit a road block for the third. I needed something that would make people remember the battle as more than just a dope battle or “bar fest”. I had this idea about a super street dude having to conform to a 9-5 and said “fuck it, I think it’s funny”. I honestly had no idea it would go off like it did. People were genuinely in tears in this round and my man Moneybagz even got a kick out of it. Pat Stay used to tell me this was one of his favorite rounds he had heard. It turned out to be even more of a blessing because although URL had interest in me from my Cortez battle this was the one that made them see how well rounded I could be and got me locked in.
