Earlier this month, an agent bought risk coverage directly through another agent on Cork, with no human involved.
This was a major milestone; the first fully autonomous, agent-to-agent risk trade to happen on Cork's infrastructure. @Zyfai_'s agent requested coverage on Cork's order book. An underwriter agent (Claude in a loop with the Cork MPC) priced it. Zyfai accepted, and it settled onchain on Base 🧵

A new edition of This is Risk, Uncorked just landed
Inside:
the risks agents create that never existed before
why they all exit at the same second
two agents pricing and settling a risk transfer between them
Don't miss the next one 👇

Agents are now the main users.
The question driving everything we're building at Cork: how does risk get priced when both sides of every trade are machines? My full talk from @AgenticSummit

Agents are already managing risk onchain but their only tool is exit, and when that's everyone's only tool it turns into a stampede
Cork is building the toolkit they don't have yet

Studying history is important, because it lets us understand the shape of how change works.
Make risk markets programmable onchain is going to open up so many new possibilities the same way actuarial science and probability theory did.

OpEd: 🗣️ Tokenized RWAs will thrive during the next crypto downturn because their yield is anchored to real economic activity, not crypto leverage, argue Cork's Rob Schmitt, researcher Borja Neira, and RWA.xyz's Bryan Choe.

This is real. The shopping street in every major city now has the same stores. AI is doing this to our minds.

When yields are high, everyone assumes the risk must be high to match. When yields compress, everyone assumes the risk has compressed too…..except that’s not actually how it works!

Nice to see risk management as its own category in @serotonin_hq’s State of Onchain Credit report.
The protocol mechanism of Cork operates as tranching: assets are split into two in order to price and transfer risk. The impact of tranching, however, extends across categories:
✔️ Risk Analysis: with transparent risk pricing, everyone from vault curators to asset allocators to retail investors can see how risky an asset or position might be.
✔️ Risk Management: risk can be hedged against for specific strategies and assets.
✔️ Liquidity: robust risk management begets liquidity, helping DeFi grow to new levels.
Over 160 participants in the onchain credit ecosystem, and growing.
We've mapped every single one of them across credit issuance, capital allocation, infrastructure, and risk management.
Tomorrow - see this map in action in the State of Onchain Credit report by @solofunk.

DeFi's whole promise is non-skeuomorphic finance, building primitives onchain to create products TradFi can't.
But the industry still hasn't cracked its most basic problem. KYC and onboarding remain the real bottleneck. You can embed compliance logic, licensing terms, and a dozen other rules directly into a smart contract and still end up doing paperwork. In 2026, parts of that paperwork still need wet signatures.
The smart contract is the easy part; the bottleneck is the human in the loop, which nobody has automated yet.

We’re in a different phase of crypto. The new wave of everyday users expect different features and guardrails than the earliest waves of crypto.
We’re seeing more and more the acceptance of protocols taking authoritative measures to protect users. Just recently, Circle came under fire for not pausing USDC transfers after the Drift exploit. This is an expected change in user expectations; we need crypto to operate more like functional and trustworthy financial services. But it’s also another reaction to DeFi’s absence of any robust risk-management layer. The solutions that crypto continues to default to are binary extremes: pause funds or don't, extract liquidity or keep it onchain.
🤔 Should @arbitrum have frozen the Kelp hack funds?
Was it putting users first?
Or putting decentralization last?
We'll settle this in THE GREAT ARBITRUM DEBATE

"These tail risk events will push the ecosystem to reassess how risk is currently expressed and priced in DeFi. Right now, all risks are effectively bundled into a single APY. That one number incorporates liquidity risk, collateral risk, smart contract risk, and tail risk.
For a more mature system, that is not sufficient."

1/ 🧵 $292M of rsETH — was drained from @KelpDAO's @LayerZero_Core bridge in a single forged message. 48 hours later, $13B of DeFi TVL had walked out the door whilst it remains unclear where the losses actually will land. Let's unpack the ecosystem impact.
