Our horizon scan for research questions in urban evolutionary ecology in @Trends_Ecol_Evo available early access: authors.elsevier.com/a/1fcGu…
Our cool bird poop 💩 metabarcoding DNA analyses led by @slrogers27 and the @lesleybulluck lab revealed some interesting diet items 🪰🦋🐛🐚🕷 across an ever-increasing anthropogenic landscape 🤔
Our preprint on nestling PROW diet using fecal metabarcoding is out in @AmOrnith We found that nestlings have a wide diet but aquatic prey may be especially important for development, but they may be declining due to human activities.

Maybe incompetence doesn't keep people from thinking they're incompetent after all

Because of $$ crunch, Uni just cancelled 1,976 Springer journals and saved $4.3M. That's just Springer. 1,976. People, that's disgusting.

Proof that small sample sizes produce odd potentially irrelevant things: Today the Cubs became the second bsseball team to score double-digit runs six times in its first 19 games, matching the 1885 Chicago White Stockings.
Political positioning coming after tenure, and the ONLY reason they take underpaid jobs and work overtime all the time. Good luck with recruitment.

Love debates about the neutrality of neutral sites. Seriously.

In 1997 I was PhD student at Stony Brook. Bunch of us drove to Shea to see Mets vs Dodgers on Inaugural Jackie Robinson Day, April 15. Bill Clinton addressed crowd w Robinson's widow. Unforgettable. #JackieRobinsonDay

Really enjoyed putting this article together with @Kmwinchell and @JLosos in revisiting Gould and Vrba 40 years later with a fresh urban eco-evo perspective...and very happy that @Trends_Ecol_Evo supported it...yes, it started friendly, and actually ended friendly too!😆
Now online in @Trends_Ecol_Evo: Urban evolutionary ecology brings exaptation back into focus - it started as a friendly debate about "preadaptation" & "exaptation" w/@JLosos & @TheRealVerrelli -->our perspective on how contemporary adaptations take shape

A paper every 37 hours? I'm a tad behind.
One of the world’s most cited scientists, Rafael Luque, suspended without pay for 13 years
The prolific chemist, who has published a study every 37 hours this year, has been sanctioned by the University of Córdoba

A brilliant coup for SLU
Congratulations to Dr. Gregory Triplett, Jr. on being named SLU's inaugural dean of the School of Science and Engineering! We are thrilled he will be joining us in July! slu.edu/news/2023/march/trip…
Reason 154,368 why humans are not the most "complex" organisms. As an aside...is too late to CRISPR some Drosophila DNA into me? My kids would appreciate it.
Older fruit fly dads can produce higher-quality offspring, especially daughters.
Check out the study by @premdaguilar @berfindagspace @paucarazo @zahidasultanova to learn more

Big meta-analytic findings!!! The GRE’s ability to predict graduate outcomes has decreased significantly over time as the diversity of graduate students has increased. Predictive value also decreases as samples include more People of Color. dx.doi.org/10.1080/00221546.…

As expected, @jaketapper didn't ask Youngkin about his prioritizing the wealthy over school funding; his admin's $201M error; his infamous "tip line," forced outing of LGBTQ kids, conservative think tanks etc. behind his history standards, etc. bluevirginia.us/2023/03/5-qu…
