The rally gave these speakers a public platform to air concerns they had been raising since 2020 and discuss the studies they drew on. Revisiting their speeches today is a chance to consider which concerns are supported by the evidence that has emerged since 2023 and what questions remain open.

Prevent nuclear escalation: humanity needs diplomacy, preparedness and accountability
As governments advise households to prepare emergency supplies, the public deserves a clear explanation of what leaders are doing to prevent conflict.
Preparedness can protect people during disruption. Its value must be matched by sustained efforts to prevent the devastation that nuclear escalation could bring.
Tucker Carlson’s warning about possible nuclear action against Iran demands careful investigation and urgent diplomatic clarification. His allegations do not establish that an attack has been authorised, but the potential consequences make responsible scrutiny essential.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has repeatedly warned that nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. His call for disarmament and international cooperation should guide decisions before another crisis becomes a catastrophe.
ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric has warned about attacks on essential civilian infrastructure and the dangers surrounding nuclear facilities. Protecting hospitals, water supplies, electricity and civilian communities must remain a priority for every party.
SIPRI Director Karim Haggag and researcher Matt Korda have highlighted the dangers of growing dependence on nuclear weapons, reduced transparency and weakened diplomatic communication. These concerns reinforce the need for reliable crisis contacts, reciprocal restraint and measures that prevent miscalculation.
A nuclear attack against Iran could endanger neighbouring populations, disrupt essential services and severely undermine confidence in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Civilian preparedness cannot substitute for preventing these consequences.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar and other mediators deserve sustained support in pursuing a verifiable settlement. Governments should seek explicit assurances against nuclear use, preserve negotiations and investigate alleged breaches through credible procedures.
Any emergency powers must remain lawful, necessary, proportionate and subject to independent oversight. Allegations of unlawful attacks must be investigated, and those responsible for proven crimes held accountable.
Humanity’s future must not be surrendered to fear or fatalism. Prevention remains possible, and leadership should be judged by the lives protected and the conflicts avoided.
