Two starters and absolutely essential players gone from the title favorite in game 3 of 82. Heartbreaking on so many levels. Titles in the world’s best leagues are largely a war of attrition these days.
Amazing what operating from the top down strategically and with genuine curiosity can do. Imagine Everton operating from a mindset of what’s possible versus making every decision based on fear and caution. Playing to win v playing not to lose. Imagine that. #EFC
Look, there’s reasons that Brennan Johnson is a locked in starter and maybe it’s not based on reason or evidence or performance but all I know is that YOU AREN’T SEEING TRAINING so maybe consider that, eh? #EFC
Been a while since the Everton midfield has created more advantages than it concedes. Just watching the same old same old with zero indication that any other ideas are under consideration. #EFC
The moment the comms made mention of Arsenal not having scored from a corner all season, I knew it was over. #EFC
And then someone could snap a moody black and white photo of it. #EFC
I’m going to assume Michael Keane is getting his last rites if O’Brien is starting ahead of him at CB. Prayers up for Keano. #EFC
In their first seasons at Everton, the players he’s named played the following amount of Premier League games
Baines - 22/38
Jagielka - 34/38
Lescott - 38/38
Cahill - 33/38
Does he think we can’t check these things?
🗣️David Moyes on being patient with the likes of Tyrique George, Tyler Dibling & Hayden Hackney: "My history would suggest - Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott, Tim Cahill - all those ones who came in might've had to wait a bit of time before they became first-team regulars.
"I'm not saying these players have to do that. But hopefully, they develop as well as those boys did.
"When they come on, hopefully they can show what they're capable of."

Some players play no matter what and other players MIGHT play if they do well but they also might not. If playing time isn’t informed by form and incentives only exist for some and not others, why would anyone be surprised that Everton are perpetually stuck in the mud? #EFC
💬 “Whenever Tyler Dibling has come on, he’s impressed me. Other players aren’t performing and yet they’re still starting”

I think it was for the Chelsea fans but the timing was dreadful.

To be clear, loads reporting that the boos corresponding exactly to when Martinez was being stretchered off was a coincidence because they were actually booing the Chelsea fans. But to anyone watching on tv, the optics/timing were bad and the comms immediately commented. 🤷🏻♂️ #EFC

When you’re seeing a game on TV, all you’ve got to go by is what you see and hear and the commentators report. I apologize for not having magical powers to deduce that the booing coming at that exact moment was for something else. #EFC
As recent performance and/or mistakes appear to have ZERO impact on Moyes’ decisions re: playing time for some versus others, I don’t know what course correction looks like for Everton beyond certain players who will never ever lose their spots finding a way to be better. #EFC
