Welcome to The Scouting Spotlight
This account will be dedicated to scouting football recruits from both the high school and transfer portal ranks
The focus will be evaluating talent in a consistent and comprehensive manner from both video and in-person scouting
NDSU will likely finish this year 10-2 with losses to two of the top G6 teams in the entire nation by a combined 11 points
Moving from FCS to G6 and immediately becoming a top 5 team at that level is a very successful season for the Bison…
Dave Doeren averaged 8 wins per year since 2020 (6 years) with no investment
Interesting decision from NC State to not invest into the program and then wonder why it was falling behind in the ACC
Surely, hiring another coach and not investing into him will be the solution!
BREAKING: NC State has fired head coach Dave Doeren, the school has announced.

Not going at Jesse Legree whatsoever at all…
… but holding a HS signing day type of announcement — in October — to share that you will be back with the same college you are currently at for the next season perfectly encapsulates where we are at with CFB.
Wild, wild times.
Jake Wilson (89) is CLUTCH!
After converting 4th-and-long to get in the red zone, he works up the seam for the game-tying TD on 3rd-and-goal
This score forced OT, where Wyoming picked up an impressive road win
Wyoming tight end Jake Wilson (89) converts a HUGE 4th-and-9 here
With his team down seven in the fourth quarter, he finds the soft spot to convert
Holds a near identical profile to current top draft prospect DJ Vonnahme with frame, movement and track times 👀
I am trying to watch and evaluate some of the players in the Wyoming offense
SJSU edge Jeremiah Tuiileila (45) is making that rather difficult so far
He leads the nation in pass rush win rate
3rd and long is a very dangerous situation when facing the SJSU defense
Facing one of the top mid major right tackles, Jeremiah Tuiileila (45) converts speed to power, earning a red zone sack
There’s also less pressure to be PERFECT right away, which is something that is ultimately killing these five star QBs
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that most of the top recent cfb QBs have begun at programs not expecting to win the CFP
(Cal, Tulane, UIW, UNT, D2, etc)
"One agent reps a current Group of Six starter, who was a backup at an SEC school in 2025. They said getting in-game tape now outweighs waiting out the chance to start in the Power Four."
Have stressed this over the last 18 months as a growing trend when talking to QB prospects and their team (family, trainers, agents)
I believe it's a good thing for the sport and QB development, but it makes stacking depth at the position harder than ever

University of Maryland is a public university. There’s nothing wrong with these students standing in a public place. They were not causing any harm or trying to breach the facility.
Great job in your reporting efforts Nolan & Jude.
For @testudotimes, @JudeWilkenfeld and I were outside Jones-Hill House trying to get players to comment. An athletics staffer took pictures of us, and a police dispatch was called for suspicious activity; a cop and 2 cop cars pulled up, and officers ID’d us and asked us to leave.
This seems like the best opportunity for Charles Huff to make the jump to P4
A string of hires that I could see resulting from the hiring of Huff this offseason…
Maryland: Charles Huff
Memphis: Jerry Mack
Kennesaw State: Joel Taylor
247/On3 ranking + positional value are the only established reference points to use for agents representing HS recruits
Right or wrong, a bump in the recruiting rankings translates to a bump in NIL
Every other level beside FBS consists of programs on a generally equal level
The FBS is split into two sublevels of resources: Power Four and Group of Six
24 team playoff works at FCS for 128 teams with similar resources, while FBS has 138 teams in multiple separate tiers
Elon RB Kamerin McDowell-Moore (22) has been making his own case for the best true freshman in college football
This week against Stanford, he accounted for 180 yards and a TD
He now has over 1,000 rushing yards
Obviously, this is something that Cam Ward needs to clean up for the NFL level
However, the quick game has always been an huge issue for Ward and Brian Daboll continues to emphasize it 😒
This is exactly why 95% of college ADs are about to cut NIL funding for hoops
There’s are ~10 programs that land the versatile high-level bigs and six of them have proper coach/scouting/structure
Others fight for S16/E8 and that can be done with a top coach, portal & analytics
North Dakota State linebacker Donovan Woolen (1) is a very intriguing prospect
Junior with elite frame (6’4/230), and the athleticism to track down ball carriers
Showed strong upside in coverage in the slot last season before moving inside this year, where he has 51 tackles

Coaches won’t name names because they’re tampering too, so just stop talking about it.
NEW: Nebraska's Matt Rhule claims SEC programs are tampering with QB Anthony Colandrea after being asked about the support around him:
"I don’t think that’s a good narrative for us to have out there that he doesn’t have enough support (around him). I don’t think that’s good for our players. And not good because he’s already got SEC schools calling him. I don’t want Nebraska people to start saying that, because that’s happened before here. We don’t need that now here."
