As I wait for transcript of today’s hearing, here’s some reporting by NYT about Faruqui’s crash out in DC courthouse today:
“In an emotional, hourlong address from the bench in Federal District Court in Washington, the magistrate judge, Zia M. Faruqui, said that the case against the former officials — Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides — was a rushed, political prosecution ordered by the White House intended to affect the upcoming midterm elections.
‘I am deeply troubled by what happened here in this case,’ Judge Faruqui said. ‘What has transpired here cannot be described as anything other than weaponization.’
During his speech, Judge Faruqui dismantled almost every aspect of the government’s case. He pointed out that most of the false statements the two defendants were charged with making were not actually false, that none of the false statements were made knowingly and that none of them had any material effect on the congressional investigation which they were called upon to assist.
‘That is not probable cause,’ he said over and over.”

Last night, crowds up on Short Vine destroyed property, set fires, vandalized vehicles, started fights—and assaulted CPD Officers who were just trying to keep everyone safe.
This CPD Officer was beaten and kicked repeatedly. The Officer required stitches and medical attention. This video is hard to see—and this is only the end of the video—it does not show the beginning where the Officer was jumped, nor does it show the duration of the assault.

Well… Bexar County rolled out brand new scanners for the first time this election, and they jammed at at least seven early voting sites in San Antonio, some for three to four hours, while voters stood there and watched their ballots drop into an emergency bin instead of the machine. The elections administrator says the ballots were "not falling the way we'd like them to." That is the whole explanation.
Now keep in mind the county's own training slides told judges to rescan those bin ballots right there at the site, while the Texas Secretary of State's handbook says keep them separate and send them to central count… and two election judges say the instructions changed in the middle of early voting. So which rule did they follow, at which site, and who signed for those ballots? You have no way to check whether yours was ever scanned, and the county turned down an interview and says it won't brief the press on the bins until Election Day.
I have watched this movie before in Colorado, and it never ends with more transparency after the results are in. This is the Paxton Senate race in the fourth largest county in Texas.
@BexarElections, publish the emergency bin counts and chain of custody logs for every one of those sites today, not after the polls close.

🇺🇦 Crowd tries to STORM Ukrainian National Guard facility near Kyiv over claims soldiers are being held inside
Protesters smashed a police bus window and pushed the gate as security forces fired shots.
A doctor claimed that between 25 and 30 people were inside, 4 in serious condition.
The National Guard commander arrived and said the men were soldiers who had left their units without permission and were being returned.
The standoff continues.

🚨🇺🇦 An angry crowd near Kyiv tried to BREAK THROUGH the gates of a building after allegations emerged that Ukrainian soldiers were being secretly detained and tortured inside.
The footage is rather disturbing.
People are kicking at the gates, demanding access, while reports describe tear gas being sprayed from inside the property.
Initial claims suggested around 40 SOLDIERS had been held there for weeks, with medical personnel allegedly prevented from reaching them.
Ukraine's National Guard and police DENY that people are being held hostage or illegally detained.
Police say the confrontation began after private ambulance workers reported being denied access to someone at the property, which was occupied by National Guard personnel.
The crowd suspects something serious is being concealed. Authorities say the detention allegations are false.
What happened inside that building still needs to be established.
