What does faith offer the world today? A call to build a future rooted in peace, compassion, and hope. As part of the annual G20 Interfaith Forum in Salt Lake City, faith leaders from around the world gathered to reflect on how faith can help address the challenges facing our communities and our world. In this special Music & the Spoken Word feature, Rabbi David Saperstein and Sister Camille N. Johnson shared how faith calls us to work together to create a more just and peaceful world. By living our values, treating others as we would want to be treated, and seeking to become peacemakers in our homes and communities, we can help bring greater peace and hope to all of God’s children. May we each find ways to put our faith into action and help build a better world. How can faith help make the world a better place? Last week, Salt Lake City welcomed the annual G20 Interfaith Forum, bringing together nearly 700 participants from 50 countries and more than 35 religious traditions to explore how faith can inspire solutions to global challenges and bless communities around the world. This gathering was the inspiration for this week’s Music & the Spoken Word, featuring reflections from faith leaders on what faith offers the world today. Imam Mohamed Magid spoke about compassion and caring for society’s most vulnerable, while Sister Jane Wakahiu shared how faith in God gives us the courage to speak the truth, stand for what is right, and face life’s challenges with steadfast faith and purpose. Though our faith traditions may differ, we can find common ground in the desire to serve others, build peace, and create a more hopeful future.

“Fear not, I am with thee.” During the Sunday morning session of general conference, President Henry B. Eyring reminded us of the comfort and courage we can find in the Lord’s promises. As we sing “How Firm a Foundation,” we remember that Jesus Christ is our sure foundation, and that He can strengthen us through every trial. May this beloved hymn remind us to trust in the Savior and extend His comfort to those around us. Watch the full performance and President Eyring’s message on the Church website.

Why is the organ called the “King of Instruments”? With 11,623 pipes, the Salt Lake Tabernacle organ has a remarkable history dating back to the 1860s, when pioneer Joseph H. Ridges first built it. Expanded and rebuilt over generations, it remains a defining part of the Tabernacle’s musical legacy, filling the space with a sound that can be both delicate and thunderous. Experience this historic instrument in all its glory at Organ Fest XVII! Join all five members of the Tabernacle organ staff and guest organist Julian Petrallia on Friday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Admission is free for ages 8 and up. Come hear history come to life!

Music is one of the ways we share our faith, but the testimony behind the music is what gives it meaning. We asked a few members of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square to share their testimonies; what they believe, what has strengthened their faith, and the role the gospel of Jesus Christ plays in their lives. When we share our testimonies with one another, we find connection in the things we hold most sacred. We hope their words give you an opportunity to reflect on your own faith and the experiences that have shaped it.

This week on Music & the Spoken Word, Derrick Porter reflected on finding happiness in every season of life and recognizing how the Lord can help us grow through both the joyful and the difficult moments. Just as rain nourishes the earth and makes new growth possible, our challenges can deepen our faith and help us see God’s hand in our lives. As we turn to Jesus Christ, we can find hope in uncertain seasons and trust that even our hardest experiences can become part of our spiritual growth. Thank you for joining us for this week’s Music & the Spoken Word. Watch the full broadcast at TabChoir.org. Full broadcast link: youtube.com/watch?v=JcQkir1x…
