a lot of the comments seem like they think that
A: the character being giving the pill is a minor (theyre a college dropout)
and B: that singular pill will destroy their body (a single pill does pretty much nothing, so the gesture is just symbolic if anything)

Taash's nonbinary identity is a metaphor for feeling caught between two worlds. Their actual questline is about their Rivaini/Qunari identity. They're both and feel like they're not allowed to be. The dinner scene with their mom makes this clear. Grifters, of course, don't care.
This moment, for those of you who ACTUALLY played the game, is one of the most emotional and impactful on-screen parts of Taash's storyline, and is a perfect example of peak writing and storytelling from @bioware, as well as acting from Jin Maley, with a moment of absolute grief and rage played out. But none of the LARPers out there know what I'm talking about, because they never played the game, and the only thing they can manage when they see this image is a "GO WOKE GO BROKE" cry of outrage.
By the way: her ENTIRE storyline is optional. You NEVER have to do a single quest with her other than the recruitment part. If trans representation scares you that much....don't play her storyline. Only YOU control the buttons you click. Nothing was ever FORCED on you. Tourists.
But if you DID do the storyline, the entire arc with her mom, and how it finishes. Oof. Chef's kiss.

i was intrigued by him in episode one when he didn't stand for civilian collateral, its played off like he does not really care, but there are multiple times where collateral would have been easier and held that oath. i hope he doesn't die in this series, id love to see more
