*real life update/lots of dumb and scattered thoughts and reflecting* *will be a long tweet and hopefully not too heavy* - Some of you guys know, some don't, but at 20, I was diagnosed with cancer. A handful of surgeries, months of chemo and stem cell transplants later, I was given the all clear. A few days ago, I had a follow up appt with my oncologist and that was given a still all clear, and despite the last few years having a few scares - I'll hit 10 years remission!, which is essentially a safer all clear and no more follow ups!! My oncologist did ask me about what got me through the last ten years, getting back to *normal" and I answered Pokémon Go. It's kinda silly that what's essentially a gacha game has made this big of an impact - but it's gotten me out of the house, despite having a completely decimated lung capacity. From someone who's barely been able to walk around the block, to now being able to walk silly distances for the grind or for 🤮raids🤮. Of course a lot of the motivation were the hundos, stats, medals - but fundamentally it was the local and online communities that gave me that further drive. To keep going. So just a proper thank you to everyone who's been a part of the last decade, in the game - to whatever capacity; 93nino days, 93yummy days or even notso days. Without the comraderie, I'm not entirely sure where I would be in terms of ~rehabilitation~. But this poorly coded shitstorm of a game has made a massively positive impact in my life, but I'm glad you're all weathering this poorly coded shitstorm with me 🙏 and I can't be more thankful I aim to keep bettering myself as aspects of the past still stick around, but the fact that there's more normality is just nice Enough emotion. Honestly, this is abhorrent. GoFest Weekend has hardly even started. Encounter cap is a needlessly pointless restriction, and without any transparency of how to navigate or approach it - it makes unlimited raiding a risk, and not unlimited at all. The numbers say it all
